I have the Meridian audio in my R1T and noticed that it is not as loud. Volume is decent but I find myself in the high 20s to enjoy music. For the last 15 months, I hovered in the mid 10s and found anything over 20 too loud for my taste. I am not losing hearing for sure. Thinking software update is responsible or bad amplifier (unlikely). Doesn’t matter what music streaming service I am using. Have you noticed this as well?

Seems like the volume levels do keep changing periodically. At one point even setting the volume in our R1S to 1 was too loud to hold conversation over.

I'm half wondering now if the base volume number is getting reset after a software update and ends up re-averaging to whatever you had it set to before the update. Maybe I need to do some testing for .50

I had the same problem, on Monday I was listening to music at 25 with my young kids in the car just so it was at a reasonable level. Today after the update, same song at 11. Seems like either the update or the restart that comes with them fixed it. Try a soft reset first

Have noticed a variation between 15-19...don't think I've had it to 25...maybe when the rattles get bad in a few years I'll have to drown them with sound. :CWL:

I think all of you are experiencing permanent hearing loss from driving around with your music at 20+ volume.

Nigel Tufnel has my system tuned to 11.

I haven't noticed a difference in 18 months for a given music source.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
I hear significant differences between songs in Tidal, and then pretty dramatic differences across apps (BT/Apple Music -> Tidal - same song).

Really hope they get it sorted. It appeared (or I noticed it) after 2023.42.x.

Idk about the volume but it does sound significantly better than it did when I originally got it after an update a month or so ago. Honestly sounds amazing on top quality Spotify to me. I know they addressed something with the overhead speakers in the patch notes, but it feels like it did more than that. Meridian btw

There are multiple threads on this with some saying certain frequency bands sound subdued or missing. Soft reset restored function. OTAs appear to change software settings, some visible, some not. Probably a good habit to read update notes, double check settings and expect to reset after each OTA.

Yes!!! I agree.
Our R1T was in for service almost all of November getting a huge list of issues fixed.
And it was updated to 2023.46.0
And noticed the sound was weird… not like others reporting it being in mono… I did do a YouTube left right channel test and it still is stereo… but it just doesn’t have the oomph it had before or headroom. I found myself cranking the volume so darn high to get a decent volume. So not sure what this is about. I can get it to be loud enough. So maybe it’s nothing to worry about. But it does seem very different.
before maybe 11-12 was normal. Now it’s like 19-21 or whatever.

Soft reset
Just did it again with no difference…
So I will be listening at a good volume around 22-23 and when nav comes in with voice it’s same audible loudness but shows its 13 however.. as it’s saying whatever and when done goes back to music at 23. No difference in audible range. But why? Seems buggy.
I have the meridian system. Maybe something else is going on

I did a soft reset and hear no difference. Hope it gets resolved in next update. If not, I am calling Rivian.

Mine has never changed in R1T. Same 16 to 18 for medium level listening.
