Hi everybody, new here.

We just passed the 1K mark with our R1S, mostly short daily commutes and one three-hour road trip so far. Overall, we're very happy with it.

The past few days there has been a creaking sound coming from the frunk every time the car wakes up in the morning. Almost like an old rickety door sound. It doesn't do it during the day, just in the morning and sometimes late at night.

It started happening about five days ago, after the safety recall visit (they found nothing wrong with the steering column). It is currently parked outside and temps in the morning have been in the high 30s & low 40s. We will be moving it into the garage this week.

Not sure if this sound correlates with the safety recall visit, the recent cold temps or something else I can't think of.

We've submitted a service request already. Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this.

Attaching a short video from this morning for your reference, sound on.

My R1T does this also. If you look at the vents below, there are some louvers that move to presumably let air in. This noise is coming from those. I assume it needs some lubrication but I have not yet submitted a ticket. Let me know if you hear different

Guessing the seals on the air suspension is making that noise? My truck doesn't make noise like that.

It flaps in front of the radiator. Below painted part of the bumper. When the car is asleep they are closed when the car is turning on - they are opening. I had the same issue but it was crazy louder. I put some lubricant on the corners of the flaps where they are moving and no more sound.

Interesting. I tried lubricant but mine still make the sound. They need to take this to the service center to fix the sound because they have to remove more of the components than mobile tech could do. I don't mind it to much. Told em I'll send it in when there's more than a vampire coffin sound from the louvers!

I think if that part is overengineered as many things in this truck it would not surprise me if lubricating those areas will work for somebody (like me) and would not for others... Same with the tonneau cover... Many people have issues with them even at delivery, while others use them every day and have no issues, again, I have had the car for over 4 months now and 10000 mi, use the cover every day and it is working perfectly...

I was completely expecting you to open the hood and have some spooky Halloween prop in there!

I had my R1T into the SC for this. They told me that there was a rubber hose that was rubbing up against the louvers as they cycled open when the truck wakes up. They repositioned the hose, and no more Dracula’s coffin sound.

I have the same issue although I think mine is a bit louder.

I'll try the lubrication suggestion to see if that doesn't shut it up.

It's really unsettling.
