I had the location-locked issue too with Xfinity, when I tried to use it at another property in a different state. I used a small travel router in the remote location to create a VPN back to the home, so it looks like the TVs are at "home". Works like a champ. I used this: Amazon.com: GL.iNet GL-AR300M16-Ext Portable Mini Travel Wireless Pocket Router - WiFi Router | OpenWrt | 2 x Ethernet Ports | OpenVPN/Wireguard VPN for Public & Hotel Wi-Fi | USB 2.0 Port | 2 x External Antennas : Electronics
This looks great and is certainly a smaller than my laptop. I think I'm going to give Starlink Mini a try at the end of August and see how it goes. If the Mini doesn't cut it then I may return it and try the Standard for the next game. If that doesn't work I'll go with the digital antenna.

The Starlink WiFi is a nice to have for the 8-12 people we'll have at the tailgate because we've found that the local cellular system is simply overwhelmed on game day. It really makes it tough to connect with people who are looking for you! You send a text and hope it goes through eventually.

I’d create a nice long highlight reel of Penn State games, put it up on 4K smart TV and run a ticker update of current game Scores in a window. 10,000’s of thousands of people in one area I’d spend way to much time trying to keep wireless working when a Ribeye is calling my name. 😊 other option find a Penn State Network Tech friend to hardwire you to a point of presence/switch at the game.

I've been looking at mounting the Starlink receiver to the underside of the R1S sunroof...If I'm in a field without anything around me, will that work or will I have to "aim" the Starlink receiver to get decent reception?
I have one of those suction cup mounts with the Starlink Mini installed inside my R1T. I used it extensively on a road trip, and it worked really well. It definitely impacts the speed, but it’s still more than enough for work or streaming.

If you are on Roam, you are deprioritized in a big city and your speeds will suffer.

Interesting...I don't think State College PA would qualify as a "big city" except on game day so I'm hoping that this works. I'll report back in September!

My starlink showing up soon. Different use case, but I know there are the personal roam plans but also priority data plans. Would a priority plan make any difference in a dense urban area?

Depends on how many residential plan dishes are around you

The smaller the town the lower the likeliness there is Congestion or high usage of Starlink. I highly doubt there’s a lot of Starlink in a small college town.

Depends on how widely used traditional wired high speed internet is. I was in a small town Borrego Springs, and they had more SL residential than my home in Los Angeles. I have more bandwidth in Los Angeles than next to this small town I was next to.
