Trying to decide to stealth or not to stealth. It tends to look stunning on other vehicles, but now that I am up against the decision to spend the money and potentially change the look of my truck, I'm feeling a little stuck. Borealis looks very bright and warm lighting and can look equally dark in cool lighting, it's quite dynamic.

Has anyone seen any tools or simulators to visualize what it might look like?

Here are two test squares on my dirty truck, as that will be the most realistic situation, and I'm lazy. What do y'all think? I'm worried about it becoming too dark and flat, but perhaps it will look very deep and refined.

I'm assuming the PPF that came on the cargo tunnel doors is XPEL? I intentionally scratched it to see how it would react, and I also scratched the stealth that I know for certain is XPEL. Stealth seemed extremely resistant, I couldn't scratch it despite a fairly aggressive effort, and a buffed right out with my hand. Extremely impressive, and that probably sold me on doing PPF. If the glossy one is not as durable/scratch resistant (even though it heals), then maybe that alone is worth the gamble.

Congrats on the new truck! It's beautiful. If it were mine, I would not go stealth since it's such a dynamic color, as you noted. Rivian Blue is similar in that way and why I chose to keep it as is, even though I like the stealth look as well. Either way, you can't lose.

I'd go clear. That's what we did on our Storm Blue.

If desperation in posting here to crowd source my thinking wasn't enough, I had ChatGPT estimate what it might look like using my demo patches. I wonder how realistic this is, but I think I like it?

Makes no sense to pay more for a very dynamic metallic paint, then pay some more to make it not dynamic with Stealth. It’s like spending money to travel to Iceland to see the aurora borealis, only to put on custom goggles with frosted lens. But to each his own.

Granted I'm a bit biased as an XPEL Stealth owner (El Cap Granite), but I really do like the muted look over the normal glossy finish. And while so far everyone who's responded here has said "no", I will say I've had so many compliments on my color R1T, to the point where multiple people have said it's the best looking Rivian they're seen (I disagree as I've seen Forest Green in XPEL Stealth and thought that was pretty damn awesome, and will likely get that next).

Anyway...it really doesn't matter what we think. You're the one who's driving it.

Clear, and I’m a big fan of the stealth look as well. It just doesn’t complement every color, and I think this may be one of those cases.

Borealis is a "look at me!" color. I'd say go with the glossy PPF.

I have full-PPF coverage on my Storm Blue. Really can't complain, it's already sacrificially saved my rear quarter panel from a huge gouge.

I had the entire front 1/3 done in Xpel Clear, which means there are no lines, and honestly, along with Xpel Ceramic coating, you cannot tell which is and which doesn't have PPF. It looks great, when its clean on Borealis.
