Steering wheel shimmy/vibration at higher speeds - looking for a solution (alignment is fine)

Dallas area. I apologize - I should say that I am trying to avoid Discount and NTB just due to negative experiences in the past.

If you want to stay away from the Big Guys, why not just choose a super simple private place (really simple). Drive in, show them your pucks and give the Rivian Change 101 and then you have a place for life? They are all over the Dallas area...by the droves.....

Yes, I think it's just a matter of calling and checking individually. Good point about the pucks though. I only have one right now and I should probably get all four. This will create a lot more flexibility.

Unfortunately, the last shop I called asked what kind of car Rivian was, then suggested I take it to the dealer. This is a place that advertises EV and hybrid maintenance repairs, as well as tires. Onto the next one .

Luckily part of my plan from my switch to 22s from the 20s was to get a set of the dodge 2363 wheels with all terrains. Going to drop my 22s off at the shop and cruise with the dodge 20s (275/60/20) for the day.
Found a local shop with good reviews who say they offer road force balancing for 25 per tire. Will post how it works out.

Road force balance definitely helped with the 65-75mph shimmy on the 22s. Thanks to above posters for recommending

they replaced the sterring wheel last night..but to me it look same and feel same..i will drive on freeway today and see if i notice any difference

My experience and resolution - I had the 70mph+ shimmy as well when I received my R1T. Rivian took it in to investigate and found one of my 22” pirellis had a flat spot from the factory, deemed it defective, replaced it… shimmy has been gone for 12k miles and two rotations.

Mine only occurred on self driving, I would see a rapid shimmy in the wheel like eyeballs entering rem sleep. If I held it, I could feel it. It would not do it at the same speeds without self driving engaged. It did so with the pirellis and the Michelin so I presume it’s something other than the tires. Will let people know what it turns out being if it’s resolved.

My Rivian R1S with the 21s on the new Michelin Defenders MS2 are smooth as glass up to 90s without steering wheel shimmy. Had them very carefully road forced and got the front 2s down to 5-6 lbs road force and rear 2 at 9 and 10 lbs. These are low numbers for glass smooth ride like the luxury cars. The Rivian is sensitive.
