The time is finally arriving. I take delivery next Saturday. I know many of you have a lot of experience taking delivery with these cars and if you have any advice, that would be great. Didn't someone at one time make a check list?

Also, for the next 2 months we're in a rental home while our new home is being finished. I'll be charging on the rentals 120v for those 2 months....any advice so I don't go crazy? Thankfully I work from home. Oh, and what aps should I download? I have plug share already.

I am also taking delivery (well, pick up to avoid $1000 delivery fee) next Saturday (9/30), so I will be watching this thread. Congrats, OP!

Quick thing to check - can you access the torch? I learned later that mine won’t release. Out in a ticket but told them I don’t want to drive to a SC for it.

There are a couple checklists you can use. Or you can just go to delivery day aware of the main issues to look for and do a more thorough inspection when you get home. That way you get to enjoy the experience!

I’d suggest only looking for actual damage (dents, scratches, etc.) during delivery. Really only things that they might not take responsibility for after you drive off. Everything else you can get fixed under warranty for years to come. That way you are covered and can enjoy the day and hit the road.

I thought someone mentioned that they’ll fix panel gap, paint issues, for 12 months

I'd say don't accept deliver with any panel dents or so. Those take forever to get fixed. Check the outside well before getting in an accepting on app.

We had a dent, they said would be a one day fix, so accepted. Took 4 service visits, 2 months, body shop involvement, was total hassle and left bad taste.

start reading the 300 page manual.

https://rivian.com/support/article/r1s-owners-guide

on delivery day Inspect the vehicle and make your first ticket while taking delivery for any dents, dings, scratches, paint blemishes and missing parts.

check to make sure your vehicle windshield wiper fluid works. AC / heat works, no panels are rubbing and damaging each other when opening and closing doors.

make sure your key fob and app works.

use the checklist I’m sharing to inspect

Enjoy the eye candy while you shop till you drop.

order the below items

I just read, a couple days ago, that they are only fixing misaligned panels for the 1st month. Reached out to them yesterday, as my month is almost up. They told me to take pictures and post before they will schedule.

Major paint defects, cracks in glass, interior cosmetic damage and dents need to be brought up right away so its easy to tell it occurred from the factory and not from wear / tear, parking lot shopping carts or chips from rocks on the highway.

The official warranty guide states adjustments are for 12 months / 12,000 miles.

when I think of adjustments you can do towards the end of 12 months, I think of more N/V/H issues, alignment, tire balancing, key fob batteries.

When I think of adjustments I would do when I take delivery it would be paint nibs, damaged trim, dash damage or the seat defects like stitching. Dents / dings / paint chips / wheel damage / caliper damage, cracked glass would all be items I would mention right away.

Bring up the major items and create a ticket on site if you need. The next available appointment could be a month or two down the road.
