No problem with my R1T, mainly wanted something smaller, but also wanted off road chops and it had to be a partial plug-in so I could use it for everyday errands in full EV mode.
If you don't know already, you can't use it every day in full EV mode. The vehicle will force you to use the gas engine after a while. Look up "FORM" issues and you'll see exactly why it does that. This catches a lot of new 4xe owners off guard, with them thinking that a short commute can always be done on electric power alone, but they then find out that's not exactly accurate.

Stelantis is going out of business and cutting product lines so service might be a problem.
Stellantis has record profits last year. And you think they are going out of business? LOL

Well for starters the new Grand Cherokee design is hilariously ugly, which is really a shame as they'd always been pretty good looking vehicles for years.
Haha....Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking. This is absolutely disgusting!

Just wanted to mention I traded in my R1T for a Wrangler 4xe Rubicon yesterday.
The Jeep 4xe has about a 30 mile all battery (17kWh pack) range and a 340mi ICE range. It's got 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque with actual real lockers front and rear. That 30 mil battery range should suite me fine for probably 95% off my driving (I work from home). The dealer gave me $60K on the Rivian trade-in which in NY goes 100% to the pre-tax value of the new vehicle, so I actually will end up about $1,900 ahead once I file my taxes and get the $3,750 Fed tax credit early next year.

Jeep is trying to clear out 2024 models right now, so they have crazy incentives. The Rubicon was $71K, but with incentives it knocked $10K off so it was $61K before the $3,750 fed tax credit.

When trading it in, I forgot to give them the camp speaker as I replaced it with a draw a couple months back, I also forgot to give them the bag for the tonneau cover panels, I kept the NACS-J1772 adapter I just received two weeks ago, and I also kept the wristband because that did not come with my R1T. I guess I'll sell the NACS adapter as the Jeep only has level 2 charging.

I was a pre March price increase customer, after the fed tax credit I took in 2023, my R1T cost $68K, I had it for almost two full years and got $60K for it on the trade in, I consider that pretty decent.

Old ride meet new ride....

I rented the Rubicon 4xe in Montana for a month. It was dependable and performed well but I couldn't wait to get back to the power and smoothness of my Rivian. My family didn't have as much room in the Jeep either so I got to hear that. The range of the Jeep was nice though especially when away from home. Chargers are not as convenient around Yellowstone.

Rivian is offering $66k on a $105k R1S after 4 months. So I’m guessing it’s $25k as soon as you drive an R1 off the lot. ?
Gen1? Most folks here got pre order pricing.

That $105K to $66K depreciation is exactly how badly the Jeep Grand Wagoneer depreciates.

It’s all supply and demand. There are an excess number of overpriced Wranglers, Wagoneers, Tundras, Tacomas, etc on the lot that need $10-20K rebates and discounts to sell. Look at all the whiny Tundra YouTubers crying about $15-20K depreciation in a year. Well geez it’s because new ones are discounted $10K+

I have to assume that you had issues with your R1T. That said, it’s hard for me to understand going from a Rivian to a jeep. Looks like a pretty significant downgrade so I’m happy to hear that at least you saved some money.

Not quite sure why there is so much Rivian bashing going on but I for one have had my R1T for approx 4 months and it’s the best truck I have ever owned. It’s crazy fast, rides like a sports car, and has all the bells and whistles I could ever want ✌. I have driven the jeep so I can honestly say that this post is a complete head scratcher

My wife and I just sold our early 2024 4xe Rubicon to get into our R1T. My wife loves Wranglers, but the 4xe was a miserable experience for us. Hit with everyone one of the recalls in the last year and a half, on top of a lot of other issues. I hope yours is more reliable than ours was. I like plug-in hybirds almost as much as an full EV, but I think we got a bad one (but not bad enough to qualify for lemon laws). I really hope yours is better than ours was, Jeeps can be a lot of fun.
I traded in my 23 4xe for the Rivian r1t. The Jeep was a mechanical nightmare waiting to happen and an extremely uncomfortable ride. Glad I got rid of it when I did

Yeah just saying that the 4xe depreciation isn’t a Jeep thing only. There was a thread a bit back on here where someone paid $100k and got a $64k offer from Rivian for a trade in 4 months after purchase. Or something like that.

ICE cars tend to hold value better. I haven’t seen those grand wagoner numbers. A BEV will depreciate faster than an ICE. Just the way it is for now. We put a ton of miles on our EV, so we couldn’t lease. But, if I could lease, I would.

Does anyone even pay attention to IIHS crash tests and ratings? I won’t even let my daughter ride in one, much less want to ever buy one. With the state of vehicle safety technology today, there’s no reason anything that performs as poorly as a Jeep should even be allowed on the road. Rolling over on the front impact tests is just pathetic. Night and day when compared to the safety of the Rivian. I’m always amazed how this data seems to have no impact on most buyers though. Hasn’t even come up once here.

Again, it's about pricing and supply and demand. EVs are overpriced by $10-15K in general and EV carmakers have cranked out too many for the real world demand.

New Tundras are depreciating badly but new Sequoias (I had a 23 TRD Pro - it was $84K but really felt like a $60K vehicle.) are not. Why? Simple... supply. Toyota only builds 22K per year and keeps supply restricted. Tundras are FLOODING dealer lots. They have dozens of them. Toyota builds 125K-150K per year. In reality they should cut production to 80K or less. Sequioas are stupidly overpriced but supply is restricted so there is no need for large discounts to sell them and depreciation is kept in check.

Thanks OP for sharing. To each his or her own, I certainly wish you the best with your Jeep. I had a 2021 wrangler 4xe for about 18 months while waiting on my Rivian. I traded in my old car on the Jeep during covid-induced great trade-in pricing, got the full EV tax credit on the Jeep, then sold the Jeep for a great price when I purchased my R1S with the full ev tax credit. The wrangler was cool, great for kicking around on short trips. You could keep it in electric-only mode, but if you floored it the gas motor would kick in. I see these hybrids as a pretty cool compromise for some, and a great way to introduce many people to some of the advantages in the world of EVs. It is interesting seeing EV sales slow down and hybrid sales pick up - hopefully Rivian survives. I'm a day-one R2 reservation holder, we're still planning to buy an R2 if and when we get the chance. We had planned to trade in the model Y on the r2, but with values so low on the model y, maybe we'll just put a set of BFGs on it and let my kids use that as their first vehicle, especially since Tesla now has a grandma-mode driver setting. Anyway, fond memories of the 4XE, photo just for fun.

Good luck and enjoy the new ride. I had a 4xe longterm rental and didn’t like it. Had less than 1000 miles and had 3 events that caused the tranny to disengage between electric snd ICE modes and 3 that the brakes just lost power.

Not bashing as I like the like just be mindful as my wife stopped wanting to ride in the car after the 3rd event.
