Tesla Charging Adapter Dock for Center Console

Put this together today after finally getting my supercharger adapter from Rivian.

I don't really stuff the center console with anything aside from a few spare charging cables and some basic paperwork so it was pretty much always just a gaping cavern.

I figured this was a better use for it and the divider still allows cables and such to sit down there no problem.

I debated making a hinged cover but then realized that would just encourage adding a bunch of stuff on top... Which would then need to be taken out to flip the lid and pull an adapter out so I just left it open.

I angled the supercharger adapter to gain back a little extra space on the divider and to allow enough space to get a finger in there to pop the latch to pull it out.

Might make a few tweaks still and happy to share the model for printing if there is any interest

I will likely be making a few tweaks today and I want to test those out - nothing major just some optimizations for spacing/positioning to get just a little extra space on the open side of the divider and I think I'm going to add some ribs to the divider just for some extra reinforcement.

I'll see how that goes and if it looks good I'll share the final print.

Also just be aware that my L2 adapter is a TeslaTap and this might not work for any given alternative brand as I'm keeping the sizing pretty tight. The L3 adapter is the standard one Tesla seems to be providing all OEMs with supercharger access. It will probably work for 3rd party ones as well as I think they're all pretty close in size and design but this was designed for those two specific adapters so caveat emptor, YMMV, and such all apply.

So with all that said, one I can test these changes I'll post the files up.

Will probably drop them tomorrow, got tied up in a few other things and only printing the revised version now - which won't be done for 4.5 more hours...

Updated model has been published. Didn't get new photos but the 3D model preview is accurate. Was able to get a little additional space on the storage side of the divider (~2" now) by tweaking angles and positions of the adapter mounts.

Here is a version to mount on a wall, side of the frunk, bed side, or whatever. I probably won't print it for a few days though, my printer is doing full time work for Halloween giveaways.

Make sure if you're putting this in the frunk or bed to use a proper filament that can handle the UV exposure/heat like Nylon, ABS, polycarbonate, or similar. Otherwise it WILL warp under the weight of both adapters (or even just the L3 adapter as it's a chonky boy).

While the console version can still be subject to high heat, being down in the dark, gloomy bottom of the console, and supporting most of the weight just straight down on the base means PLA or others are likely fine and wouldn't warp/deform in any significant way that would be detrimental. Even if the cabin surfaces exposed to sunlight are at 120-140 degrees, it's likely going to be (a bit - enough) cooler down in the console.

Also-

If anyone uses this for a different L3 adapter (A2Z or whatever) or a different L2/destination adapter please report back with results. I suspect that a lot will "just work" unless it's a design that intentionally really deviates from standard, but it would be nice to know and I can possibly make some different versions if it's only minor tweaks required.

But it would be nice to start building a "compatibility list" of sorts, and I can add that to the printables page so people would know upfront if it works with their adapters
