• Autopilot also turned itself off just before impact. This is not new. NHTSA said this is a real thing.
• Whether the video was sponsored or not is irrelevant if the experiment was real and transparent. What they said happened, happened.
• If Tesla wanted to prove Autopilot and FSD are as safe as they and their defenders claim, they could release the raw data. They won't do that.

Frame by frame shows that autopilot was disengaged just before hitting. Faked.

Honestly, if Autopilot would happily drive at a wall at 40mph until 0.3 seconds before impact, and THAT is when it would take some kind of Tokyo-Drift 10-G evasive maneuver that the video producers painstakingly deactivated to manufacture an impact....I might just choose hitting the wall as the safer option.

I think the article does fairly because it does point out some weirdness about the video while also debunking claims.

I personally haven't watched it. It's not like I need to watch a video to validate what we already know. We already know the Tesla autopilot (and FSD) constantly misses things. We have enough real world data from practically the start of AP back in 2015 all the way to now. Tesla has the most fatalities of any car brand so DUH!!

"Un-supervised" FSD is on schedule for June and right now their are YouTubers gopro'ing their real world Uber rides for hours and hours on end without ever touching the steering wheel.

I have often wondered whether Tesla claims not on fsd if the driver takes evasive maneuver in attempt to avoid accident that fsd induced. My own experience was driving in right lane on 4 lane highway and fsd tried to change to a right sided lane that did not exist. Never trusted the system again.

I wouldn’t trust Elon on anything. If past is any guidance, he lied about Thai cave incident, put himself as Tesla founder…. Has he taken huge risks and it paid off? Yes! Did he attract huge talent pool, as his wealth soared? yes! I absolutely believe the fed or autopilot turns off, as soon as it senses that it could not do anything anymore.
Has he done a great job with Twitter and DOGE? Hell no! ( I do want the bureaucracy to be slashed) Would I ever trust any of his companies’ products? Never in my life time.

If the foundation is shaky (the core values), at some point it will all collapse. Of course, as they say markets can be irrational for a very long time; his supporters can be irrational for a long time. For me, he should be in next cell to Elizabeth Holmes.

Have you seen how poorly rivian did in the out of spec test? Even with premapped highways it misidentified the lane it was in and even switched lanes during a very clearly marked section.

And rivian doesn't lie about features in their vehicles? Look at rivian's adas system controversy. And people honestly are so naive to believe that rivian has their own autonomy solution implemented right now.
