We picked up our R1T early June, and wow is it awesome. But, I have a couple of suggestions for RJ... And I wonder if I am the only one thinking this....
1) Cruise control works great. BUT... when I turn off cruise control the regen brakes slow the vehicle down aggressively, even when regen is set to low. Can you please make it so the vehicle "coasts in neutral" without breaking when I turn cruise off? My work around is to turn it off with my foot on the accelerator and make sure I am going faster than the cruise is set. People think I am brake checking them now when I turn cruise off.
2) Towing: The R1T is a beast and tows great. BUT.... The brake controller software needs an update. When I teach people to tow a trailer I encourage them to try and "not" touch the brake pedal. Anticipate what's in front of you and start slowing down early. The only time the trailer brakes work is when I hit the brake pedal (which I seldom do) of if I push the button on the steering wheel. Sort of like brake controllers from the 70's.... My concern is I pull a trailer that is at or close to the capacity of the R1T. What will happen on wet/snowy roads when my 10,000 pound trailer starts pushing my 7,000 truck around?? When regen braking is activated it needs to be coupled to the trailer brakes. When the "brake light" comes on, the trailer brakes need to activate. I don't want my trailer pushing the truck, even though it might help with battery charging and range.... Right now I won't tow a trailer with the R1T when it is wet outside.

Maybe all my concerns can be fixed by providing three levels of brake regen. High, Medium and low.... Right now the low setting is still aggressive.

That's all for this post!

I wish they would program the steering wheel scroll/buttons to be able to adjust the regen on the fly. Lowering regen via the touchscreen can be outright dangerous--imagine going downhill into a turn and hitting slick surface.

And... while they are at it... Please have an option where it "always" goes into the camp mode when parked. Sitting in my shop the think draws hundreds of watts doing nothing.... The camp mode improves that, it just needs to happen automatically.

How much energy it consumes while parked has everything to do with how many systems you keep active. Gear Guard, proximity unlock disabled, etc.. With all that turned off I see about 1% loss overnight. And that's in a heat wave and parked outside.

I have all that turned off, and I see about 1% per night also. But... 1% out of 125Kw sounds like 1,350 watts over an 8 hour period. So this truck draws 168 watts per hour doing nothing? Geeze, the least it could do is fold my laundry or make coffee for that much power.

And.... One more thought... I know we have five cameras, lane control, blah blah blah... but I really like the feature on my coal burner car where the right side mirror adjusts down when I put it in reverse.

Energy management has not been Rivian’s strong suit thus far. You make exceptional points. I would also post them to the Reddit forum. I think Rivian pays more attention to that one for feedback.

Sassquatch, Thanks for the feedback. I'm not on the other forums, please feel free to copy paste if you feel like it.
