On a road trip and picked this up. I'm puckless but have a tire plug kit. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have plugged these types of punctures with great success. If you want added security you can take it to a shop and have them remove the plug and have them patch it. But for me, plugging is enough.

I guess the question is are you loosing air before or after you remove the screw. If neither is true, just watch your tire pressure and drive on.

Wish me luck I have 4 hours ahead of me and will remove it if I drop pressure. Appreciate the advice from everyone so quickly.

Still thinking….If you remove it and note no air leak, get some soapy water/windex and spray the hole. I like to use a tire crayon or paint pen to circle the area before removal so you do not lose the spot. Been there, done that. If you spray it and no bubbles, pump the tire up to ~60-70 psi to try and induce a leak. If no bubbles, deflate to normal running pressure and watch your pressure.

I would do the same thing and leave it in and try to make it to the destination. If you begin to loose pressure, pull it, plug it. Hopefully it did not make it through the carcass.

Use your kit make sure you ream the hole and then use the rubber cement supplied with the kit.

If it's holding pressure, you absolutely should not attempt a repair mid trip. Save the kit for when you actually need it. If you're flat on the side of the road, absolutely use the kit. If you're still holding pressure and safe to drive, do not risk it. I'd rather take it in for a free patch/plug than use my kit on the side of the highway when I didn't need to.

Had a similar penetration with a bolt of larger diameter. Plugged at my local gas station and has been fine since. Hope it will make it to the tires end of life. Was the ream/thread type of plug with rubber cement.

Exact same thing happened to me on a 6 hour trip. It was losing air, but verrry slowly. I left the bolt in the tire, but monitored the pressure constantly. The tire lost about 2 lbs for the whole trip. I repaired the tire after returning home from the trip and leak was a little more pronounced.

The last thing I would do is leave it in. The more you drive, the more damage. If it isn't through all the way, why wait to it to pierce through? If it does go through already it needs fixing either way. Just plug it.

The first day I had my r1s it got a nail. I immediately pulled it and it hadn't gone through. A few months later I got this screw and had to plug. Holds air fine.

Pull the nail, ream the hole, insert a plug half way through the fork, lube with glue, insert forcefully until the loop is inside as it creates a dam on the backside of the carcass, pull the fork straight out, cut the tails a bit short and air up
