If you don't like your vehicle and don't like the company or the big discount they gave you, just trade it in on something you can "take pride in"
Yep that's the plan. With 13 service appointments in 20 months, Rivian is buying back my car...and with gen 2 prices where they are at, i can't see myself getting another one for the time being. I do still have my R2 reservation, so we'll see what happens with that in the next 12-24 months!

Probably for the best. Good luck.

Makes sense and explains a lot. You probably should have led with this.

Doctor said I should reduce my salt intake, so I would have avoided your posts if I knew.

You do not need Connect+ to use Chrome Cast. Never did, never will.
Based on the software update rolling out today, this statement appears to be totally incorrect. Several people, including me, tried to point out in this thread that Rivian's wording made it very clear that "casting" was a feature hidden behind the Connect+ paywall, but you didn't want to believe.

Yup. They do artificially hide features behind the Connect+ paywall. For instance, I’ve noticed with hotspot, I don’t get the google gemini POI summaries even though my car is connected to the internet

Exactly! Which is why it’s not a “gesture”. I’m not thanking Rivian for not charging me $95k. No one would’ve taken their pre-orders for that much.

But anyway you’re right. Rivian did everything right. Anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong. I’ve made my point, I’ll step out for some fresh air now ?
I would have spent 95, and I proved that by trading my '22 R1T in for a '25 Trimax for 112K.

People were saying that they didn't feel connect+ was worth the money, Rivian is building value for connect+ subscribers by ADDING features. So what that some of them are behind a paywall, I didn't have them when I bought either of my Rivians and nothing entitles anyone to free added features, although I've gotten a ton of those already.

According to Rivian most people bought the connect+ subscription anyways.

I recall there is/was a way to cast from an Android device via "screen mirror" mode, but normally casting works via connection from the cast device (the Rivian) directly to the internet streaming service, with the phone controlling the casting only acting as remote control. In that sense, it makes sense to be tied to Connect+, since it's high bandwidth internet streaming through the vehicle's LTE connection and plan.

As others mentioned, it would be nice to stream directly from the phone to the vehicle via wifi, but that's never how Google Cast has worked (except for the screen mirroring edge case).

They aren't artificially hiding anything. The things they put behind the pay wall, like POIs and satellite maps, cost Rivian money to provide. They are only charging with Connect+ things that cost them money.

I’m just a gimme sort of guy give me give me I want it now.
I really don’t care whether I have to pay for the connectivity plus or not.
I already paid 117k for the car anyway. and did I say that was with no perks that was the second Rivian for the household and with no free charging at all and no lower foundation purchase price,
And I love it.
I love the car.
I love its performance. I love it range. It’s been great to me so far I cannot complain it all IAnd I love it.

It’s been great to me so far I cannot complain it all I have driven through flooded waters..

I just thought the language seemed a little harsh because yeah OK we do know.
but the issue of this whole video streaming that’s all I want.
You said it was out com and May give it to me .that’s all I’m saying it give me besides that I’ll be looking forward to getting my second Rivian we already have two at the house a R1S and an R1T, I want that R3.
But I will say the price tag of 45k for the R2 does sound nice
