In the one competition that nobody wants to win, we have a new competitor! The refreshed Tesla Model Y was found on Tesla’s Chinese website.
Spoiler alert ? the R2 and R3 aren’t going to have much competition from Tesla in the looks category. It seems the Model Y somehow got even uglier and more jellybean shaped than ever before!! And once again, their designers took a day off!

Looks like a Dodge Neon had a baby with a 2000’s Saturn

Tesla is going to be in trouble in the USA if overall sales don't rebound after the redesigned MY comes on the market.
Just to clarify, the sales in USA actually increased Y/Y. All of this while EV sales are slowing down.

I find it funny that a forum of folks who like a car with a polarizing design think that an incremental change to a widely appealing car is ugly.

(And you all know I’m no Tesla fan)
You're saying that the Rivian has a polarizing design? What? 100% of opinions I encounter is that it's a clean look that is the opposite of polarizing. Many people use those words. The only slight push back is the headlights, the rest is 100% loved by everyone.

Talk all the Tesla smack ya want. The Y is the best selling car in the world and will hold that title with this refresh. Excellent upgrades
In the U.S., at least, the RAV4, Silverado and F-Series outsell the Y, depending on how you count. Possibly also the CR-V.

Worldwide, I expect the Corolla to outsell the Y for 2024.

To me, the Y looks like a slippery wet dinosaur turd, but to each their own.

I like the design. But many have commented that they think it’s too boxy and the headlights are odd looking. People have a hard time with new looks. Definitely not loved by everyone. Though, to be honest, who cares ?

The model Y is like a a bowl of oatmeal. It just exists and doesn’t offend anyone lol

New looks...so you're just talking about the R2/R3? I've never really noticed them. I think the R1S is a hideous box, and assume the new ones are even worse.

I think most people would consider the R1 to be a new look (mostly headlights). People justify why they like or dislike something based on silly things. I drive what I like, not what others like!

The facelift is not bad, nor great. Those predisposed to shop elsewhere have many other reasons though. No matter what enhancements they made to the car(s). With so many brands now with access to Supercharger, consumers have options (as long as they are willing to accept the disadvantages of non-Teslas).

Practically speaking, it will be interesting to see how the new headlights fare while driving into a snowstorm? Looks like ice buildup might be even worse than before?
