Shipping mode should be enough to allow a couple months storage, right?
Response from an AI overlord:

Yes — when Vehicle Shipping Mode is engaged, app control and access are disabled. You’ll lose remote access to features like lock/unlock, charge status, and location information.

But if you can't check using the app, how would you know if it's doing fine or if a bug caused the battery to drain.🤷

I left my Gen 2 R1S unplugged outside for 3 weeks in New England in April, with several days below freezing. Went from 70% to 55%, or about 5% per week. I had put it in Camp Mode and turned Manage Energy to Stay Off. This allowed me to check the app every few days (was on a cruise) but still powered down most functions to minimize vampire drain.

Our i3 was laid up for almost 2 months (Jan and Feb) at a body shop after being rear-ended two years ago. Waiting for adjuster(s), ins co approval and additional parts to arrive, it was moved in and out of the body shop quite a few of times... I was tracking it on my phone via the BMW app. I could see when it was out in the parking lot, in the shop or in the storage lot. It was never plugged in even once while it was there. It lost about the same 5% charge over two cold winter months sitting outside. The sad thing is, Rivian could do it if they put some genuine effort in to it, but it seems they really haven't done much about vampire drain yet.
I just love that little car. I thought I would have gotten rid of it by now, especially considering I own other electric vehicles in the stable, but I just can't part with it.

You are on point with Rivian; I don't think they motivated to deal with the phantom drain issue.

We feel the same way about our little i3... my daughter is considering her next move (literally) as she's now 28yo and concerned about having to charge the i3 in her next dwelling. To that end, she is considering a Plug-in-Prius so she can run it primarily on gas, but she can still use it on electric if/when she can plug it in. If she does get the Prius, then she would get rid of the i3. When she told us her plan, my wife immediately offered to buy the i3 from her because she's driven the i3 several times and would love to have it for her daily driver around town vs her Honda Pilot. I drove it yesterday since it was blocking my Jeep in, and like every time I drive the i3, I end up saying it's a great little car!!

The first time I encountered the i3 was at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2012. One of the things that really surprised me, outside of all of the innovative tech at the time, was that my Sassquatch frame actually fit into the driver's seat. I can't get over how much space and visibility I have in that car. For around town, especially dealing with tight parking spaces/garages/traffic it can't be beat.

I first learned to drive on an original Mini Cooper (manual transmission) and despite being a giant, I've always had an affinity for the handling of small and quick cars. Throw the i3 into sport mode and I'm 17 again.

I've driven a lot of cars over the years and I've never experienced a turning radius as tight as the i3's in anything else.

This is why you shouldn’t park them for a long time not connected to a L1 or L2 charger.

Aside from stigma, the current gen Prius is actually quite nice inside and out.

First, terribly sorry to hear this and I hope someone in NY can lend a hand. Second, I had NO idea that we can’t let out batteries drain to zero! Is this common knowledge? I’ve had my R1S for 2 years and this is the first I’ve heard of it.

Yes. It's common knowledge among those who actively seek the do's and don'ts of EV charging, at one point or another. Deep discharging can cause damage and shorten service life. Google search if you want to learn more.

Also, those new to EVs should watch these videos.
