On part of my 4K+ road trip, a stop at the Rivian Adventure charging station in Quartzite, AZ was needed. Unfortunately, No station nozzles would make a connection. They would slide is part way, but .... with all my 84 year old strength, I could not get any nozzle to completely seat. Tired of moving the truck from one station to another, I pulled ut some hand cream and spread it on the exterior of the inserts. At last, a connection and charging commenced. So .... be advised to always carry some hand lotion, sun lotion, or something "oily" that you can apply. BTW: this "problem" only occurred once on the whole trip.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I have a problem ?

Nice job improvising. FWIW during that January cold snap here in CO I could barely move the cables at my local EA station and get it plugged into my T. You're doing fine out there!:muscle:

Thought this was a joke when he mentioned the hand cream. Glad to hear it worked out for you! I guess I should stop telling my wife to get rid of all the hand cream from the door pockets.

Stoped there on my 4K+ road trip a few months ago, the trailer stall worked fine when it was 90ish°F.

But maybe many months of repeated hot temperatures with that black charge connector sitting in a black surround facing the sun absorbing heat has caused some issues.

Got some hot sauce from the shop next door:

You were inserting the handle at an angle. At a different RAN that I've used several times, I noticed the last time that it was more difficult to insert. Carefully inserting the handle straight in allowed it to connect.

My suggestion is to get your vehicle as close as possible to the dispenser so to reduce the effect of the cable tension and stiffness causing you to insert it at an angle. Your pic shows your vehicle far away and the cable is pulled almost straight.

Sorry, but now you've contaminated a handle with a greasy substance that will attract more dirt than normal and it will be spread to other owner's vehicles. Not cool....

It looks from the picture like you need to pull up closer to the pedestal. I always pull up as far as I can as if the cable has tension it is harder to seat. At least that is my experience and it holds for any plug - RAN, EA, EvGo etc.

This is 100% your problem way too much tension on the cable. Please let the forum know which charger you lubed up maybe someone can clean it off before it contaminates anyone else. Always a good idea to look before you plug in for contamination or plug damage.
