And I’ll reiterate my point here… if you are so pressed for funds that you would rather err to give the government an interest free $5K loan than risk owing $1-2k then you definitely shouldn’t be considering a $5K vanity upgrade for an $80K+ car.

I’ve gladly written the government a penalty-free check 9 out of the last 10 years (exception was a year I both got married and switched jobs mid-year so paid FICA taxes twice). I’ll take the 4.25% interest on the funds for myself, pays for the full year of Connect+ and a few months of Spotify.
I missed the added context you’ve provided with this post. I agree, if you’re worried about paying a couple thousand to the government you shouldn’t have an 80k dollar car let alone upgrade one.

You're welcome! You can follow along with the rollout here.

And if you want to get a notification of when you've been flagged before the app, you can link your Rivian account and get an email.
I already have account ;) and I am tracking.

yours website is very useful and I love the notification about download the software .

last couple of months with out connect+ I used to get in 5 to 7 days after initial release.

As a new owner (4 months in) I'm curious as to update timelines. Is there any consistency on the time it takes from the update's release to when it will show up as available in vehicle/app? Nothing for me yet as Connect+ subscriber.

I'm 26.5 months of ownership
My updates have been randomly spaced from release to availability to download
Something along the timeline of one day to 2 weeks

Can I get a retro-active upgrade from delivery on 12/15 last year?

The last few updates have gone something like this.

Day 1: First wave of Connect+ (10%-15% or so)
Day 2: Remaining Connect+
Day 3: Non-Connet+ (Small wave)
Day 4: Everyone else

There are some variances and nuance to this. As in, your vehicle may get flagged but it might have trouble downloading the update and you won't see it in the app until it downloads.

Hasn't been pushed to ours yet. The only thing in this update I am looking forward to is the "chime" so when the car in front moves, it will let me know.

The other features.....meh. I am waiting for the messaging feature to be added.

It appears us folks on the west coast are lower priority ?

I don't think the order in which you subscribed to connect plus matters. That said, maybe I'm just misreading what you mean by 'first wave.' If you mean that some random Connect+ members up to 15% of subscribers but in no particular order, then that's likely a fair assessment.

My wife's R1S already has the update (installed at about 1630 yesterday). She got her vehicle on the 31st of December and just subscribed to Connect+ fully last week.

I've had my truck since March 2023, and have been subscribed to Connect+ since day 1 Connect+ was offered. I have no update.

Keep waiting. That feature is not in this release for Gen 1...

I also bought my Gen 1 in 2022 and had a reservation long before that. I still don't feel duped, as Rivian exceeded my expectations in other areas while not delivering in an autonomous regard. It's hard to forget that Rivian was a startup at the time, and it's common for startups to bite off more than they can chew.

The fact that we got the vehicles we did is impressive IMO.
Yeah, but I want everything and I want it now ?

what if you’re connect + but not connected to WiFi? I live in Philly and rarely park near my house to get on WiFi.

Yes, that is what I meant. Over 900 people are now linked on RR so I get to see some of the data and it looks like the first wave is 10-15%, completely random.

Connect+ will download on LTE, non-Connect+ will take a while before it downloads over LTE, I believe upwards of a week or so. You can always tether to your cell phone.

We just did the update off wifi on connect+. Works fine. Took 45 minutes.

(Note, Rivian service pushed to us today in order to get our wheel situation sorted so came earlier than normal. Other vehicle is still waiting ... and judging from past experience will be for awhile.)
