Vandalism on Rivian - sharing for awareness

OP, I am so sorry this happened. I appreciate the tone of you post. I’d be livid and out for revenge. You offered a “be careful” to us all.

I’m going to guess the guy who did this has some problems but nonetheless I don’t think my post would be so level headed. (I see people jumping the turnstile almost daily in NYC now—something almost unheard of a decade ago, and it makes me want to blow my top.)

There’s a certain maturity level in this forum that’s admirable. And I’m not dissing those who expressed harsher sentiments than OP—that was my initial reaction. I’m just appreciating what I perceive to be the Rivian mentality. Don’t let the haters distract you from your adventure. (And hope the insurance companies are decent about it all.)

Pretty awful. I would post on Next Door as well. In SoCal, it's surprisingly affective. I would also make a flyer and put it around the parking garage and see if there is a security office that has any cameras etc.

Hi Everyone,

Keep an eye out for this guy. This happened at Topanga Village before the mall opened, while I was at my appointmen. When i reciewed the other videos and my drive cam if he was following me. I found out that he's the car next to me when i parked. He got in his car and 2 minutes later, when he was leaving the lot, he stopped at my car just to put dents and scratches. ?. I filed a police report already, but I'm not so hopeful that he will get my car fix. I just hope that he won't do this to others. And sadly, my quote for the fix is over 5k. Please be careful everyone

Is it possible they are unfamiliar with Rivian, I've seen a few times where climate protesters have vandalized a Rivian under the mistaken impression it's a Full Size ICE/Diesel Pickup because they don't bother checking for tailpipes

@Angelian I know this might be a silly question and in no way do I approve of this behavior for any reason, BUT I see Handicap Lines on the ground. Were you parked in a handicapped spot without the proper signage/tags visible needed to be parking there? Was he in a Handicap spot and felt you parked to close?

This is wrong on many levels. It looks as if Gear Gaurd Gary would have caught the license plate as the offender drove away no?
If so I would take the evidence to the police and file a report. Should be very easy to Identify who the Prius is registered to and verify the Drivers license photo matches your video and prosecute the offernder. If the Police refuse I'd find an attorney and take them to court for misconduct. I'd also file a civil suit against the offender and insist my insurance pursued subrogation.
The reason this type of anarchy is allowed is because we accept it. I refuse to accept it.
OP this is wrong, everyone knows it's wrong you should not accept it because you are told by authorities they are to scared, weak, lazy, to pursue this to it's rightful end.

Maybe he thought you "wronged" him during your drive as you state that he appeared to be following you in other videos. Maybe he took offense to you passing in front of him or some other driving grievance that he felt so enraged to do this.

Sorry it happened to you, at least it was this and not some other form of action.

No, it looks like you misread the info. I said that i checked my drive cam and didn’t find that he was following me or anywhere around.
