Disagree for a few reasons:
1 - Fairly tough to sell a product when no one has heard of it
2 - As the first electric truck out the gate it should be INCREDIBLY easy for Rivian to get major free press. The headlines write themselves. They are actively avoiding press at this point when supposedly 1 month-ish out from first consumer delivery (not a got sign for a startup).
3 - If they really are planning on going for an IPO/SPAC in a few months, it is good to have points 1 and 2 covered. If the brand has been generating a ton of excitement that means a bigger payday for the top shareholders / investors (looking at you RJ)

A little birdie at a national media/advertising agency told me about meetings planned with Rivian in the near future.

So I think they recognize the need to hit traditional marks with brand awareness. We're the unlucky guinea pigs/beta testers...

I was under the impression Guides were going to be contacting LE R1T holders beginning in May 2021, for a confirmed sale, then production and deliveries beginning in June 2021. Am I mistaken, or is the article incorrect?

Deliveries and Sales are very similar, so it could be both. Guides are supposed to start contacting reservation holders in May and deliveries are supposed to start in June.
