What will we learn 5/17-5/23?

During the Lightning announcement, they specifically mentioned the issues Texas recently had. And with all the crazy weather changes, having a solid backup power source for your home might be a very appealing feature. It certainly is for me.

Watching the weather craziness of the last 15 years, I think these "once in a lifetime" events are happening more often & I personally want to be prepared. Especially since I'm already investing in a gigantic battery on wheels...

Last I read, only 25% of the US electric grid was underground. So the average person would seem to be subject to power outages. During the Lightning announcement, they specifically mentioned the issues Texas recently had. And with all the crazy weather changes, having a solid backup power source for your home might be a very appealing feature. It certainly is for me.

We have underground power to the house, but the majority of the lines between us and the power source are above ground. We typically have 1 to 3 outages a year which typically are repaired <= 4 hours, though we did have a multi-day outage this year and was able to get by fine with wood heating and generators. V2H would be nice, but far from a deal breaker for me.

I guess Vehicle to Grid/Home is nice but that is so off of a feature route as we have underground power and have never had a power outage in the time we have owned our home. Maybe for camping or what have you it would make sense but even then not on any list of priority for the average person.

Living 1/4 mile from the Atlantic Ocean, Hurricane’s are somewhat of an annual event, usually losing power for 3-5 days. I have a generator, but to have say 180 kw battery pack (silent) in the garage that I can recharge each day with my solar would be ideal.

I'll be honest, if they skip doing an interior walk-through of the R1T in favor of an exterior walk-through of the R1S first... I'll passive aggressively lose my sh!t.

There is nothing on the R1S exterior that wasn't covered by the R1T and the 5'-9" dude

I agree though, apart from the R1S tailgate operation there's nothing else on the exterior that we haven't already seen. Interiors next, please.

On the whole V2H thing, I agree that it would be a miss for Rivian not to address it. If it's fairly straightforward to do, they could announce it and say it's coming in 2022 to buy themselves some time. I'm sure customers wouldn't mind that.

Exactly, at least say that they're planning or working on it, even if no commitment at all is made.
