No bidirectional charging (i.e. V2H and/or V2G). With such a massive battery I feel it's important to make more use of it rather than just moving a truck from A to B. We are right at the cusp of auto manufacturers working together with utilities to stabilize the grid. It would be a waste to see such a massive battery not be dual purpose. In my area the utility won't take any surplus solar generation so I would need to buy a few batteries to increase my PV system size. Having a V2H capable EV will save me $20-25k so it's a big deal for me. If Rivian doesn't make this capable I will likely opt for the F150 which claims to have this capability.

That's the one "brightside" spin I put on the fact my Max pack reservation won't be getting a guide contact for a loooong time. Maybe Rivian will do what they need to do (which isn't much, honestly) to get my money. But if they make me wait another year AND they can't give me a better music experience than a 2008 Nissan then I'll probably end up in the Ford or GMC.

I WANT the Rivian. But I need my daily use case to be well addressed, otherwise I'll have serious regrets.
I'm with you here. Why Rivian would put in a bumping sound system with limited sources for quality music is kind of mind blowing. If they are listening. Please fix this ASAP

I'm waiting for real world reviews from real owners, not just youtubers or employees. I have my preorder in and I'm excited for my R1T. But if the real world experience isn't all thats been advertised, I'll go a different route. We don't know yet what the build quality will be when production starts ramping up. There will be an added stress on the company to deliver with the IPO coming. Which I thinks was a huge mistake timing wise. Not to mention the valuation, which will bleed for months, causing more stress on the company. I'm also not a fan of the subscription model. We're already paying $70K+, if I have to pay an additional monthly fee to really enjoy the truck, I'm out.

So we'll see. I feel like I'm in the sweet spot on delivery timing. I should get my truck sometime next year, and there should be enough real world deliveries to gauge what the truck really is about.

Not directly mentioned yet I think are potential battery/charging/range issues that we don't know much about yet, since info so far is so limited. If real life range is closer to 200ish given relatively common conditions/options, and it takes an hour+ at a charger to get 10-80% or whatever back, then that could become a drag real fast. Daily stuff would probably be fine, but one of the reasons I went for a Y and want a Rivian (to replace old truck too) is the amount of highway driving I'm doing now. If that would become a headache I'll just keep both until there's better option. Also my tows are all generally pretty short which is why I think an EV would be perfect in most cases, but if the few longer trips I might have to do are significantly slower than what I was already guestimating, then maybe I'll wait too.

I mean aside from some things already mentioned or giant unforeseen red flags, etc.

i'm happy with where things are at, but if they bump the price up on a res holder...i'm out. it's fine to increase price for new orders, but those of us who put a res in at a price, that should be the price.

Curious, did you actually know the price when you placed your deposit? I had no idea what the price was going to be until November 2020 when they opened the system to configure the vehicles.

Yes, as I waited until there was something concrete. I didn't pre-order early on as dumping $1k for something not available for years isn't high on my list of things to do.

My current vehicle dying on me before delivery or my other reservations become available for delivery first would be the main reasons I will drop out. Other reasons listed here can contribute Specially any forced subscription or privacy concerns.

I think a lot of us realize this is what we're legally entitled to, but if someone pushes me because they're 'legally entitled' to do so I'm still not going to be too happy about it and I'm fine walking.

There's tons of cool new cars coming out, especially in the EV space. This one looks pretty cool right now but there's no sense trying to force a fit if that changes.

It’s difficult for a poll like this to cover all the reasons someone may cancel. I didn’t vote because some of the choices are relative/ subjective or don’t apply to what I‘ve already seen or confirmed. Yes, major pricing shake-ups will make me reevaluate the situation. Or if real-world range is drastically different than what I’m expecting.

In reality, the biggest thing that would make me consider passing on my R1T order is if I can have a Lariat+ or Platinum F-150 Lightning parked in my driveway faster. But if that happens and I’m happy with the Lightning, I doubt I would cancel my R1T order. I would probably convert my R1T to a R1S order and keep my place in line…. Which I’ve heard we can do, up until scheduled for production. If the Lightning just doesn’t scratch that itch just right, then I still take the R1T and sell the Lightning…

R1T,
Excessive delays would be the #1 reason. Paid a deposit Jan. 2020 so not anxious to squeeze another couple years out of my 07 Ridgeline otherwise I will need to go another direction. #1A is the lack of SXM integrated into the entertainment system which really bothers me. I can't for the life of me figure that one out as it seems like a standard feature on most vehicles - especially those over $50k. May seem petty to some but I want to be able listen to ball games or news no matter where I am driving. Many remote and mountainous regions have no cell coverage but satellite is almost universal.

One of the things we know the least about the R1s is the R1S’ second and third row usability. I would venture a significant subset of R1S pre order holders are planning to carry 6+ passengers: not being able to do practically/comfortably/using child seats could be one of the surest dealbreakers out there – no matter how much these customers want to drop ICE and like the other R1 metrics.

You can live with panel gaps and a laggy infotainment, you can always pay more – But you can’t leave a toddler at home alone for a weekend.
