Rivian controls the vehicle experience. Alexa is all Amazon. I get the same shit on my Mach-E (well, I did until I turned Alexa off, because I refuse to log in with it, and Alexa is near-pointless not-logged-in on the Ford, since Ford has their own "vehicle functions" voice assistant that works just fine. Sadly, vehicle functions require Alexa on Rivian…)

The best service the in case Alexa has is its ability to be shut off. I had it on for a few weeks but turned it off because it was so annoying. Haven't used it in over a year.

I have looked and can’t figure out where to edit settings or preferences. A little help?

Alex doesn't do that to me, but I do subscribe to Amazon Prime and also use Tidal.

On another note, have you ever engaged with Alex in a fart conversation? Ask to fart and then keep going. It's quite funny if you have kids. Way better than Tesla's fart feature. "Would you like me to fart five times in a row?" My kids were laughing hysterically during the 10 minute fart conversation with Alex.

I would disagree on that, I've had Alexa in the home for a long time, it's something my grandmother knew how to use before she passed so we chatted that was as the phone became problematic. Alexa is the worst at trying to sell you things or "By the way did you know you can buy a car by saying 'Alexa buy me a Rivian'?"

Google used be be just a beep, but it now too talks back. I only use them for alarms, and timers now, and quite frankly i'm still annoyed at the talk back. classic case of build up the base, then change the product. I should just go back to using my phone, how much am I really saving by talking to it?

I broke down and subscribed after Taylor Swift asked me for the 900th time. A shame how much money we give to these mega-corps. I already pay for Amazon Prime (for the shipping), plus an extra $2.99 to not have commercials on the few Prime TV shows we watch, plus $9.99 for the Amazon Music, in the Rivian. And we know the data subscription charges are coming soon.

There've been a ton of surveys done about how much money people pay for subscriptions to everything these days, and the numbers are really gross and sickening. I guess at least we're not giving it to Elon? ?

Had my first experience of this the other day while playing a “game” on Alexa because I was bored driving around. It kept trying to sign me up for a 7 day free trial so I could keep playing price is right. Or whatever the fuck dumb game I for some reason agreed to play.

Alexa functions in the Rivians are limited anyway. There's little point to use her to set cabin temp when the touchscreen controls are right there within easy reach. If I somehow fell down a flight of stairs and broke my right arm... then and only then I'd see the need to have her enabled.

You have to do this in the Alexa app. Install the app and log into your amazon account. Then you will be able to go to the settings page (More/Settings from the home page) in the app where there are all sorts of things you can opt out of.

There are also some really useful features in there, like setting your music service default - this is what Alexa will use to play music when you ask for a particular song.
