Visited a relatively new SC in Stuart’s Draft, VA today to try out my new Lectron adaptor. Was able to position my R1T within marked lines, all the way to the right, and connect to designated charger. Apart from juice billed @$0.42/kwh and the adapter’s reluctance to let go of the charger cable when done, it was a successful event.

Far right spots are the best.

Yes indeed, clearly the case. At this SC, the far right spot is Handicapped reserved, blue sign threatens fine, etc; it IS a particularly wide space. One I used is next to it and the same width as the others which seem more generously sized than the dozens of other SC’s I’ve used with my Teslas. Hoping new buildouts will go to these wider stalls, eliminating angst or waiting for the Far rights to become vacant. Happy 4TH.

Far left often works here too, parked sideways or angled, often with a trailer. Not sure how common that is in your area.

The stall you used and the one just to its left have the charging pedestals mounted closer to the center. That's why it worked so easy for you. Compare that to the pedestal for the handicap parking spot to your right, where the pedestal is mounted on the righthand yellow line and you'll see the difference between the stalls.

I've charged at almost 300 different Supercharger sites in the Model 3 and the VAST majority of them have the pedestals placed on the line instead of more centrally located. According to https://supercharge.info/map?siteID=6736, the site you mentioned went live in September 2023. Hopefully, this will become more common as Tesla opens up the network to additional vehicles.

Stall widths decisions tend to be made by the landlord of the location. These are driven by local building codes. Cities have building codes that give the minimum number of parking stalls required based of the square footage of the buildings. Typically, businesses will just put in skinny stalls to be able to hit the required number of stalls in the available parking lot. Decades ago, the manufacturing at work was moved off-site and the main site became strictly an engineering site reducing the number of employees at the site. A few years later, when the parking lot was repaved, they filed for an exemption from city building codes to increase the width of our parking stalls by 25%. It wasn't an issue since the parking lot had been less than half full before the lines were repainted, but it was still an extra bit of work they had to do to put oversized parking stalls in our private parking lot proving that the building codes didn't apply to our current or future employment plans.

Thanks for your reply and illumination…
Turns out it’s neither cable length nor stall width but the ‘Or?’, ie pedestal placement ?
