I'm having problems getting the latest software update downloaded, so I'm trying to connect to my home internet for the first time. Previously, I've relied on the connect+ cell connection, but for some reason, Rivian thinks it's too slow this time. Per a suggestion, I shut off WiFi yesterday hoping to force a connect+ download overnight, but no such luck.

So, back to my problem - when I try connecting to my home internet (both 2.4 and 5.0), it says connection failed, and that's it. No other info on why it failed (that I know of), and it wipes out the damn password!

Any ideas why this would be failing, and any ideas on how to see info on why it's failing? FWIW, we've had people connect to our home WiFi numerous times with no problems.

I believe a while back some people were having problems if the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz were sharing the same SSID (Network name). I already had mine separate so I didn't experience that issue. Not sure if it was ever resolved or not.

Guessing you rebooted your router? Changing the SSID name might help as posted previously. My Rivian charger had that issues when I got it. I changed it back to one SSID after that and it's been fine for two years for both the charger and R1. Also you say connect for the first time. You have good signal where it's parked?

I have never been able to connect to my home WiFi. It can't even "see" my network, though my neighbor's networks show up. Same messages as you, it just "fails". It's irritating. I have been getting the downloads over connect+ about 4-5 days late. It's later than that now for 2025.22. I went to my son-in-law's house to connect to his WiFi (the connection via the Rivian app said it was 2.4 Ghz, I have heard that is the only WiFi band that Rivian will connect to). He has a brand new AT&T optical router (WiFi Gateway Model BGW320-505, 802.11ax), mine is a really old Apple AirPort Extreme 6th gen (802.11ac). My Model S never had any issue connecting to my old WiFi router.

If you have a RivianRoamer account, it shows how the download is progressing. The connection was only 6 Mbps. After an hour and a half or so I saw that the download had started and was at 25%. A half hour later it was just at 29% and then the connection failed and I gave up. Not a great experience. Not sure if I will ever get the 2025.22 version now.

Not sure about gen1. But gen2 Rivians have a 802.11ax dual band capable wifi adapter. Our two connect on 5 GHz (80 MHz wide channels) without issue. The wall charger is only 2.4 GHz capable.

If people are seeing other networks, but not their own it's likely an issue with the wireless router/access point. Some might have non standard options enabled like SSID hiding (which is always a silly thing to enable) or something else. Of course this assumes soft & hard resets don't remediate the issue.

Also, if your phone supports hotspot functionality you can always test and see if the Rivian can join that. That at least can help confirm it's not a vehicle side issue and rather with the AP.

FYI, rebooting my router solved my connection issue, and as soon as it connected to Wifi (2.4 in my case), the download immediately started. Update successfully installed now!
