Interesting, I keep mine looped to a belt loop on my jeans all the time, 6months ownership, never had it come off, holds well and doesn't open up as easily as you describe. It's my default key, with a card in my wallet as backup because PAAK is hit or miss.
I second this.

I once left my fob on the bed rail just above the gear tunnel when moving furniture. Apparently it was close enough to let me put the truck in drive so I didn't notice it missing. I drove 10 miles hitting 50mph and many turns... It never slid off.

I think the carabiner idea is mostly a gimmick. If Rivian actually expected this to be a bullet proof way to secure the fob, they would have added a locking mechanism. It may not have fallen off thing A in situation B, but it is in no way secure relying solely on the hoop.

Yeah, seems like a locking carabiner would have been a better choice. Didn't even need to be an especially robust lock, but anything to keep it from relying entirely on a spring would have been better.

I don't have a vehicle yet, so I don't know how strong the spring may be, but it seems obvious enough to have a lock.

I prefer to have the fob on me for easy frunk access for groceries and the like. It does open way too easily however and I thought of various ways to add a magnet to the design for more pull resistance. I decided on a simple solution. Disassemble the fob to separate the metal carabineer by removing the back and taking out the three screws holding the inner plastic to the metal frame. Mix up a little jb weld and fill the little pin recess in the side that swings open. Clamp it closed with a rubber band and wait. I also added masking tape for squeeze out but it wasn't really needed. JB weld wipes up easily. I now have a key fob which looks completely stock but which can't be opened.

Second pic is the after shot. Just remember to put a key ring in before you glue it so yours doesn't get all stretched out like mine did.
