What color is the headlight fluid?
Depends. It's usually amber for the blinker fluid, but the headlights usually looks clear, until you get sunlight on it. Then it sparkles, that's what generates the light.

Back on topic re: Wind Noise, I just checked it out and the fit is not smooth on the passenger side door vs the driver side. Defiantly not lining up the way it should be and thus causing the excessive wind noise on that side. Will see what Rivian has to say about it.

Thanks @Lsthrz - how exactly can you tell this? Is it something visible or something you can feel?

I'm asking for all us in the waiting queue who will have an opportunity to inspect their vehicle upon delivery.

Many thanks!!

It’s a very noticeable sound inside the cabin. My wife likes to say ‘that is going to drive me crazy!’ (Little does she realize it’s already too late for that).

the widow frame on that side is not flush with the windshield pillars as it is on the drivers side - you can easily feel that with your fingers. There is no visible gap per se, but it’s as if the window frame on the passenger side is ‘too deep’ and therefore misaligned.

I am working with support on this and will report developments.

@Lsthrz not to play devil's advocate or call your wife weak... But did you try slamming the door closed yourself?

I just took a friend for a ride and noticed wind noise for the first time over 30mph. Turns out he didn't close the door all the way. It looked shut and locked, but a quick open and slam gave it the solid closure.

I'm finding myself and others are being delicate with the doors, not sure why. It's a truck! They're heavy doors! Slam the buggers.

I wish R1s had soft-close like the EQS. Would eliminate any concern over whether the door is properly closed and causing wind noise.

I personally dislike having to shut doors hard or slam them. I feel like it creates more wear and potential damage to things like door seals.

I know it's not as 'nice' to have to do it aftermarket but soft close doors was one of the earlier mods for model 3.

We are here to discuss so good to hear your thoughts on this.

I don't think this is the issue because a. it's been a week with a couple of longer trips and b. the issue seems to be the passenger door is too far in, not 'not closed enough and protruding'. I will say that when I took delivery the driver's side rear door was not closing well and needed to be really firmly shut by ye Rivian delivery guy, so there's something to the door shutting issue.

Let's see what Rivian thinks. This isn't a huge issue but it's quite noticeable.

I'll add to this. I haven't really noticed any particularly abnormal wind noise, but upon inspecting the two front doors, the passenger side door definitely sits further in than the driver-side door.

Best way I can explain is that the leading edge of the driver door is flush with the edge of the front fender, while the leading edge of the passenger door is sunken in a little bit from the fender edge.

The noise to the small window at the front of the door. He said he’s ordering a new window to replace it. One of the times I saw him drive by I noticed he had a bunch of painters tape placed on the trim. While I’m waiting for the fix I decided to replicate his method of isolating the issue. I used electrical tape as it matches the trim. It reduced about 80% of the wind noise. There is still some coming from the windshield.

I submitted a ticket for wind noise yesterday as well and the service writer on the phone said it was likely this. So Rivian is certainly is aware of the issue.

Thanks to all of the early R1T recipients for getting a lot of these little issues addressed prior to the R1S builds.

Really pleased to see very rare reports of major issues.

I had mine in for a bad compressor and leaky rear drive unit. While there I had them look at wind noise on both front windows. They did some adjustment/ weatherstripping on one side and replaced the a-pillar on the other. It is quieter now and they were very responsive to my concerns. Overall a very positive experience.
