Wind Noise

Definitely major wind noise that starts on both driver and passenger side at 48 miles an hour and above. I had two Rivian techs out at my house today they said it’s a known issue typically in the small triangular window next to the mirrors. Apparently they have a parts kit that will remove that piece of glass and redo it with a new weatherstripping. I’m waiting for it next week and will give an update then. It is definitely very loud and bother someone driving over 50 miles an hour

What if the wind noise isn't too loud, but still noticeable when the music is off? Think it's worth a service ticket?

I'm normally listening to music or chatting with my spouse and don't notice it, but the few times there is no ambient noise, I definitely hear air near that triangular window on the driver's side.

I would get it repaired. Obviously something is not right and you don't know when/if it might develop further and turn into a leak.

You're right. I have a service appointment tomorrow for the missing rivets. I'll mention it and see what the tech says.

I would fix it, seems like a known issue, they have the repair kit with new glass and weatherstipping. Mine is VERY noisy so no question it has to be done.

I have some noticeable wind noise on the driver side. Its not bad but noticeable. I submitted a service request primarily because it was uneven. The passenger side was tight and had no noise.

I had the service appointment today. At first they indicated that it was normal but when the technician moved to the passenger seat and I drove, it became more clear to him. They believe a seal needs to be replaced but unfortunately they didn't have it in stock. Once they get it, I'll schedule a follow up.

I'm in the wind noise club as well. You can see the defects in the seals easily.
It's both the vertical strip and the little expanded foam bit at the base. The passenger side looks tight and flush and filled.

driver side does not stick out like my passenger side

I’m not sure if the pictures accurately show the issue, but you can certainly tell from visual inspection that the passenger side trim is sticking out behind the pillar and not flush with the door frame.

I had an air duster and found the loudest areas are the leading edge of the triangle, the top of the triangle, and top of the A piller.

Mine was at SC in Atlanta last week for missing rivets and wind noise. Probably wouldn't have even complained until heard the mild increase in wind noise on driver's side greater than 65 mph and saw reports from so many others. I did find that the weatherstripping gasket around the door on the driver's side wasn't adhered to the door with adhesive for about 6 inches on the front edge of the door and had them fix this. Other than that, they said "it's a truck, and we drove others, and all have the same level of wind noise". In other words, within specs.

Will see if I notice any difference when I get it back after having the door gasket attached properly and if any of the rivets have fallen out?

Mine went in for this issue last week and I got it back yesterday, absolutely no difference. It starts at 45 miles an hour and gets worse from there, mine is on the driver side. I can tell the glass was not replaced because the window tint is still on that small window. maybe they just replaced the seal and reused the glass. I called this morning and made another appointment, which is scheduled for next month. In the meantime I’m going to attempt to seal it up myself with silicone or at least electrical tape for now. Everything else on my fix it list they fixed correctly, including the alignment/pulling to the right, now It drives straight. This was done at the Costa Mesa service center in Southern California.

There seems to have been a pretty widespread quality issue getting that passenger side trim piece attached properly. After about 2 months of driving, ours started becoming partly detached now and then.

It's on our list of relatively minor things for service to deal with when we eventually go in.

No change in wind noise. SC employee says "it's a truck, sits higher, and noise expected." I said, "my 24 foot Winnebago class C RV sits higher too, but no wind noise on it".

Think it is just something we will have to get used to unless they find a better port window/door design.
