Depends on the size of the crack. We have our Rav4 Prime with a crack in it. The guy came out to fix it and said that as long as it was smaller than a quarter it can be fixed....anything larger the repair wouldn't cover it up but it would prevent it from "spider webbing" faster. We now have 3 chips in the windshield (RAV4...not R1T) and we are going to live with them until we feel it is best to replace it.just curious, why don’t you have someone fix the crack in the windshield rather than replacing the whole thing? It seems a whole lot cheaper
how do you DIY fix? I have a similar commute to you and just cracked my new windshield - is the pic attached repairable by me?I personally would repair the chip. From past experience, the replacement windshield never really sits the way the original did.
I commute 137 miles daily and a cracked windshield is my biggest worry. I have 3 very small imperfections that I’ve already collected from rocks hitting my windshield.![]()
You can purchase the windshield repair kits on Amazon. I personally just take it to a repair place. There’s plenty on the side of the road here in Houston. My guy charges $20 so I don’t mess with it myself.how do you DIY fix? I have a similar commute to you and just cracked my new windshield - is the pic attached repairable by me?
