Wishlist for LA first mile drive event location

GM and at least a couple of others used to do driving events at the former El Toro MCAS, putting the runways to good use. I think the City of Irvine may have removed a lot of the tarmac so maybe no longer a possibility. If usable, it’s close to a freeway, close to Rivian’s HQ, and pretty much halfway between L.A. and San Diego.

Ducktruck nailed it, exactly why I won't be doing the at home test drive. Unless you want to test out the selfdriving in traffic.

The beauty of self-driving technology in L.A. is that it frees up both hands for communicating in "sign language" with fellow drivers.?????

Also, making faces is much easier. That said, don't forget to limit the time that you take your eyes off the road, lest you be blocked from using the self-driving function until you come to a complete stop. Luckily, in L.A. rush-hour traffic, you won't have to wait long for that.

I feel like another likely option would be for Rivian to tag a so-cal driving event into the LA Auto Show. It’s where it all started and might be the direction they want to take. At the very least they need another substantial showing for brand awareness.

From what I've seen from the other events they do. Haven't heard of any updates on location and timing. Hopefully it's next up after Sonoma.

Aqua dulce in north Los Angeles county. Sonoma ends around Nov 19. Thanksgiving break and LA location will open after that.
