Wrap or don't wrap door handles?

Question for those who have done it - My R1S is actively getting a stealth/matte wrap and the installer had raised the question of wrapping or not wrapping the door handles. My assumption was that like - you wrap everything, always. But I can understand that with the usage and wear and tear it's quite possible that you could have edges coming up with a pretty high likelihood after a while.

But I can't picture "glossy" door handles sitting in the middle of a matte door panel as looking like anything but an accident. If I were getting a standard glossy wrap, I wouldn't really think twice.

So for anyone who has gotten a (in particular stealth, but any wrap really) wrap - did you do the door handles? If so, are they holding up?

I would wrap it. You don't touch the painted surface of the handle anyway (unless you have a 2nd Gen R1S which does have a touch sensor on the outside).

This was my thought, but him bringing it up as a question made me want to do a bit more research. I have time before I have to make the call but wanted to see what others have been doing - again with a gloss wrap I'd not really care as much, I just worry it'll look ridiculous with matte - but if it's going to be a constant nightmare to maintain because of edge lifting, I'd at least be open to the thought

I had mine wrapped when I did gloss. I would 100% do it with matte, my gloss is wrapped around. For Gloss I wish I asked to just do the facing surface. Mine is currently wrapped around but you feel the edges each time you open the door. pros and cons.

100% wrap the handles or cut out for just the surface. Beyond the look, for general protection I've had people fly out of the truck and smack the handles on the wall. No damage to date, but certainly glad the extra layer was there. Back to looks, matte everywhere aside from the handles would look really goofy to me.

The positive is, it is such a small piece it would be very inexpensive (or a DIY) to fix it if anything happened. Usually edges aren't wrapped that far in, which leads me to the next comment...

I've never seen PPF wrapped that far into an edge. Usually I see it 1-2mm or so just so you don't see it from the front side. I would have cut it a little closer to the edge.

I have experience with neither wrapping nor rapping (with the exception of Sam I Am’s impossibly brilliant tribute album to Brazil’s Sergio Mendes). But I can express with confidence the opinion that Rivians do not need makeup.

People with things in their hands (at least there's less incentive to be carrying keys these days!), coarse gloves, fake nails, calluses, rings. All of those things end up contacting your door handles.

I've had door handles and door cups scraped to the 9s historically, so since I became an advocate of wrap, I became an advocate of wrapping door handles and door cups. We don't have painted door cups, so just had my handles wrapped, and I'm very glad I did.

I have a complete wrap for work (truck was white, wrap is bright blue) and wrapped the handles. Glad I did, it would look weird to me otherwise.

Wrap. There are some folks that do aftermarket wrap of the door handles to make them stand out. There are various colors and imitation carbon fiber but I just had them put the PPF on mine.

PPF has a warranty so if your having lifting then the installer can fix. Mine hasn't lifted and it's been on there over a year.

Another vote for wrap. Your R1 is already there. Wrapping handles don’t add much more time. Might as well. Even if the edges do lift, it’s a smaller job than entire body panel. Plus it’s the one part that will see most wear and tear. Better to let film take brunt of it. On used cars, this is where you see most wear.
