I just got back Saturday from an off road motorcycle trip around Moab/Canyonlands. I was very dissapointed to have only see two R1Ts the entire week we were there, and both in the town of Moab itself, none on the trails or back roads.

Build them and they will come. Such a shame as I agree with others, amazing part of the world.

I’m a very amateur permit sleuth, but I’ve found Utah to be one of the hardest states to search in from a permit perspective. My guess is they are out there and coming sooner than later.

The two RAN locations found to date by @TeamEV were the Zion one from a Rivian presentation and The Creamery in Beaver from a town meeting.

One single waypoint (slow) charger in the whole state of Utah?
Not what you’re looking for, but there is a second set of Waypoints in Tremonton that Rivian removed from the map.

They are at the Aspen Grove RV park at two of their RV sites. You can call the park to reserve them and charge overnight at your site without unhooking your trailer. The park also has a few Clipper Creeks around if the sites are booked. You must have an RV to stay there.

There's EA stuff but frankly I70 doesn't have gas stations either so there's that. WY is unusual, my kids didn't have T-Mobile coverage at all when we were there visiting friends. VZW worked and Att.

Somebody needs to pony up for freewire or Autel DC Compact units that don't need infrastructure upgrades.

Fortunately can use the Moab Tesla Magic dock, but sorely need a RAN there
I definitely agree. I was just poking at my Utah friends. Colorado has definitely made charging infrastructure a priority and there are a bunch of Rivian and other chargers here, so it leads me to believe the state has helped pave the way for that to happen. I don’t know much about Utah‘s state leadership, but they should be doing the same. The populations in both states Love the outdoors and are interested in adopting EVs.

Not to derail this thread too much but since you are a permit sleuth, have you seen anything in northern Minnesota? Kind of a charging desert out there but better than Utah.

I live in Utah and drive an R1S. Plenty of charging stations around, Tesla and others. Bear Lake, Park City, Beaver, St. George, etc. You can find them. I notice a lot of them do not show up on the Nav screen, which is frustrating. Lots of EV's in Utah.

As Jabbahop said there's tons of EV's here, but I feel like most people just home charge and do minimal travel, Tesla has a few superchargers, but overall DCFC is abysmal in the state.
One single waypoint (slow) charger in the whole state of Utah? With all that amazing outdoorsy stuff to do in the state, from skiing to canyoneering, to MTB'ing Moab... like more national parks per capita than anywhere in the world.... UTAH?
Who's fault would this be, Rivian's, or Utah (government's)?
Anyway, just a mini rant. I was amazed to see almost nothing in the RAN map in that state. CO next door has several.
We took a trip from Fort Collins to Moab for the eclipse and like you was initially dismayed thta Moab was a charger "desert". After a bit of research turns out that Tesla has a bank of Migic Dock chargers next to the Hyatt Moab. Down loaded the Tesla app, opened an account under "non-Tesla" charge tab and problem solved. If you haven't already signed up, suggest you look into the Tesla Magic Dock.
