To wit, perhaps they’re waiting for us all to retire

So for the hell of it I logged into Rivian today and my configuration got locked... Up until last week I was still able to change it.

Calling seems like a lot of work. If you want to change anything my configuration is still open. We can just trade straight up, no cost. Just the neighborly thing to do.

Maybe Rivian is waiting until the weekend to contact people because most people work Monday-Friday, and they don't want to bother them while they are working.
I just think they are trying to subvert expectations. Like that Star Wars movie when they are shooting arcing laser beams in space.

You know, like how it would be on a planet.

With gravity.

In space.

But with no gravity.

Arcing, visible, Rivian delivery laser beams.

I'm May June 2022, and I'm not locked yet. So there is progress based on @Khaneric.

Haha, it's not progress. They have been manufacturing false hope since June 2021. I already see everyone getting excited about "locked configurations ". It buys them lots of time, that's all.

Yeah, that's fair. Progress in locking orders ;-) I hope to get mine by next ski season. I was hoping for the end of 2021 originally.

As much as I am unhappy with Rivian’s terrible communication skills, I sorta feel like this thread (and big chunks of the forum) have just become a dark abyss of relentless negativity

So allow me to inject some light into this miserable darkness by saying that I personally am remaining cautiously optimistic about March-April. There. I said it.

You may now return to your regular schedule of doom, gloom, and misery

What you call negativity is to others realism. Rivian have created a great product by all accounts but have had issues manufacturing over an extended period (leading to the termination of the VP of manufacturing). They allow things to slide like communication on paint colors -and the R1S interior and they have been very slow on rolling out hubs and first drives/meets. Most pre order holders have not seen an R1 - they should restart an aggressive first drive/first look event schedule.

I'm March April, and haven't gone skiing this season because haven't had a chance to borrow a larger vehicle. Thanks rivian.

Umm, you do realize there is gravity in space. There is gravity everywhere..... Also, no planet where humans can survive possesses enough gravity to bend light enough that your eyes would be able to perceive the bend over a short distance. Just sayin'

I had made a Rivian shirt a while back based on another forum member's idea. This is a perfect tagline @eggpaul for the back of a new shirt design. I love it! Maybe Rivian can add it to their merchandise store, lol.

My favorite gravity in space error is in the movie wing commander. There's a wreck on the fighter deck, a bulldozer pushes it off the deck and it falls down.... In space....
