Model 3 & Y still have a fully manual frunk - it doesn't even fully open pneumatically (like R2 does). The owner's manual for both vehicles refers to lifting it open after pressing the "open" button on the inside screen, key fob or app - yep, it has no way to open it from outside unless you use the emergency open cable. Even R2 has a button!only used the frunk on model 3 to store things since it was inconvenient to use regularly.
I just got my R1T and found the frunk highly useable...i'll use it the same way I used the trunk on the model 3. with the R2 having the back lift gate, I don't see a fully automatic frunk as being as necessary as it is in the R1T.
rember that up until around 2021/2022, the model 3 did not have a fully automatic trunk...I don't even know what the state of the model 3/y frunk is these days.
