I’ve always been questioning myself whether if I should shell out $75k on a new car. Looks like Rivian just made the choice for me. I’m actually not that pissed about the price increase. I’m more pissed about the bad planning on Rivian’s end which will likely affect its stock. I should not have invested.

This is going to generate a lot of negative press.

I'm really bummed on behalf of all the folks who are being driven away from their dream truck here. It really sucks and I'm sorry. There are lots of folks from this community who I've enjoyed getting to know who have to make a hard decision.

Say what you will about the financial realities on all sides, that part sucks.

I literally looked at my configurator this morning, 89750. Now it's 102350. That's 13k.

A supply and manufacturing constrained company with more orders than capacity?

As an aspirational owner this blows, but as a shareholder, this is great. This will hurt their numbers but no way Rivian has unsold trucks rolling off the line anytime soon.

Already corrected myself, it was a 15k increase (i missed adding the underbody shield back on).

A $16k increase for my preferred configuration and likely not getting the tax credit once congress inevitably passes a new one probably mean I'm out. But for the moment, I'm saying undecided with leanings to cancel.

Correction, didn't notice I had to re-add the improved underarmor, so it's a 15k increase for me.

You also have to add a tonneau cover if you want one -- the $3,000 powered tonneau was included on the Adventure/LE trims previously.

Staying with my order. The R1S was at the price I paid for a rear wheel drive 75kwh Model S back in 2016. I always thought the price was low and assumed it had to go up. Still seems like a value and there is nothing else currently on the market that fits my list.

I agree… hopefully this will move my second half 2023 delivery to 2022 ! It looks like a lot people thought they had an actual preorder agreement (like you get when ordering a Tesla) while we only got the confirmation of an indication of interest until an actual purchase agreement was finalize prior to delivery.

Rivian obviously agrees with you. And I certainly agree with you on the second part.

$90K gets me in the ballpark of a Taycan Cross Turismo or new Model S. With patience, I'm sure I could find a used Model X for that or less. There are so many great EVs hitting the market now in the 40-60K range, I'm not sure that 30-50K more just to have an off-road capable truck is worth it for me. I was in on the Rivian because of the value proposition, not sure it is there anymore. But, I'll hold off to see how the car market settles out and what price Cybertruck is released at (if Tesla honors my 50K dual motor CT reservation, that will be my truck, but not expecting CT production until next year, I believe they honored M3 and MY reservation holders in the past but we didn't have inflation and supply chain challenges like this in the past).

Mine has increased by about $15k ($105,200), but I’m still in. I had an early Hummer EV reservation that I cancelled about a month ago, dealer was honest and told me the ADM was 20k, so I was looking at $135,000.
