I've had a pre-order for over a year for a loaded out Max pack r1t. I registered for this forum just so I could say

I'm out, I feel deceived. Very disappointed in Rivian.

If they wanted to raise prices they should have done it on new orders and delivered on what they've already sold. Worst case just remove the tonneau cover from existing orders. 20% increases are absolutely ridiculous and deceptive.

I'm with that seems like the majority (of reactions at least) in that I'll be looking elsewhere. This is a stretch vehicle for my family, and we were going to buy for three reasons: 1) there are not a lot of choices in the same EV segment out there, 2) it was a great value proposition, and 3) the ethos of the company /truck were attractive. Exactly 0/3 of those things are still true (excepting R1S as there is no real full size EV SUV currently).

I'll be holding onto my reservation on the off chance they backtrack (unlikely given Rivian's history). However, there is 0% chance my wife let's me buy a more than 100k truck. My five year old Jeep GC and my wife's XC90 PHEV will be sticking around for a few more years until the full size EV market matures / prices come down. I had hoped to go at least partly BEV, but oh well.

While I understand the concept of inflation, I think this has quite clearly been in the works for a long time. Otherwise why time this IMMEDIATELY after employee deliveries finish? Well unless they are idiots I suppose. Just another complete shit job of customer engagement / marketing. I for one stopped advocating for Rivian several months ago to my friends / family because they kept teasing me about the multiple delays. Now I will actively be advocating people stay away from Rivian. The zero shifts anyone has ever given about potential customers hurts.

One last thought: you can't have this many fuckups in a row without it being on purpose.

I'm mostly upset that the R1S is only available in a 7-seat configuration now. I don't need 7 seats. I'd much prefer extra cargo space.

+1 on registering just to say I'm out. This is absurd for early adopters who've been waiting years. My config went up 25% not including tax increases. Complete bait and switch

The timing is very interesting to me. Have they had 3/1/22 circled for a while or did someone very recently make a call to get it out before the 3/10 earnings call.

First of a month isn't super weird by itself, but March is kind of an odd month since it's not the start or end of a new FQ.
