The email says R2 Performance with Launch Package will remain available for you until it's your time to order. Since I won't be ordering until about a year after it's my time to order (when my current lease is up) I wonder how long they'll hold that Launch Package, and whether it will include RAP1/Lidar in a year. Would be cool to get lifetime Autonomy+ AND RAP1/Lidar.

I was wondering the same thing. At first I imagined Launch edition was its own build so it wouldn’t get added…but the only hardware is the tow package and a special fob so I can’t imagine they keep building ones without lidar

Ok, so I can order in November-December 2026… but still says expect delivery in 4-8 weeks. Given where I live, it will be eight weeks. So, really it is March of next year.

Not a current Rivian owner, reserved about 30 minutes into the unveiling.

I wonder if the alleged October end date for Launch edition means RAP1+lidar follows right after. I can’t imagine buying one without the new hardware in a month or two gap where you don’t get all the included LE stuff.

Makes sense. They had to incentivize customers by offering the LE package since everyone knows LiDAR is coming soon. It wouldn't make much sense for them to end LEs until the LiDAR version is ready because of that obvious gap. It could mean though that LEs will be available beyond October - until the LiDAR version is ready.

What seems reasonable/logical is that the LE package will be available until the LiDAR version is available. I doubt it will be a year from now and is more likely at the beginning of next year. We know Rivian stated they will deliver 20-25K R2 units in 2026 so that sounds like a pretty good number of LEs (mixed in with some Premiums that become available "late 2026").

Pattern read: current/prior Rivian ownership helps, but not deterministically. The clearest accelerant appears to be Launch Edition interest, with “not interested in Launch” repeatedly associated with Dec 2026–Feb 2027 windows. Early day-one reservations cluster around Aug–Sep / Sep–Oct, while 2026 reservations that still selected LE often land surprisingly early, mostly Sep–Dec 2026. Rivian’s own email says timing is based on production schedules, delivery location, and selected vehicle preferences.

I do not have an R1, I placed my reservation in March 2025, I live just a few miles from a service center, and I was given a window today of October – November. I will be going with the performance launch edition.

This is exactly what I'm wondering. I would LOVE a Launch Edition with the RAP1/LIDAR. I'd happily wait until 2027 if that's the case.

Hi, March 2025 reservation here - just got my email advising me of December 2026 - February 2027 order window. Pleasant surprise to see that I'll be able to order a Launch Edition if I want. The timing is good for me, as I wanted to give it a year before thinking about ordering, and my Model Y will be well over 100k miles at that point.

Reserved on March 12th, 2026. Not a previous Rivian owner. I went to the Road Show in Palo Alto and have done a test drive and loved it, except for the stereo.

Sad for the long delay, but I least I can order the white interior due to the delay.

I wonder what month the Lidar will be released.

Happy with this order invite time period given my late reservation date. The best part is that the LE package with included options will still be available.
