I got the email, it said 4-8 weeks to place an order and delivery several weeks after that. I was a day 1 reservation and obviously have an R1. I don't plan on converting my order anymore but have held onto it just in case.

How do you have saved preferences for colors/wheel options? I don't see that anywhere on the reservation page.

I feel they probably took some metric into account for how many of the first invited declined Performance/Launch.

You can "favorite" a configuration and then access it under "favorites".

Make sure you do the actions they are requiring. Most likely to check your shipping address, configuration, and if you have a least date ending, upload that.

Well, California EV tax credit/P.O.S. rebate goes into effect TOMORROW so once those funds are depleted they are gone for now..

although, I doubt even all these buyers would A) qualify or B) would saturate the 135M allocated ;-)

I really don't think anything matters for reservation invite timing. I just really don't. I think they just drew names out of a hat with a random number generator.

Pattern read: current/prior Rivian ownership helps, but not deterministically. The clearest accelerant appears to be Launch Edition interest, with “not interested in Launch” repeatedly associated with Dec 2026–Feb 2027 windows. Early day-one reservations cluster around Aug–Sep / Sep–Oct, while 2026 reservations that still selected LE often land surprisingly early, mostly Sep–Dec 2026. Rivian’s own email says timing is based on production schedules, delivery location, and selected vehicle preferences.

I understand that reasoning but it's kind of messed up to put someone who reserved on day one behind people who reserved more recently -- what is the point of the reservation process if it doesn't give someone priority?

It does give people priority. What it does not do is guarantee anybody gets ahead automatically without exception. They have made clear it's not simply the order you reserved. Still, if you look at the reports and the list on this website, the weight is for people who reserved in 2024.

This is exactly what I'm wondering. I would LOVE a Launch Edition with the RAP1/LIDAR. I'd happily wait until 2027 if that's the case.

Highly, highly doubt that will happen. Rivian incentivized customers to buy the LE by including freebies knowing that the LiDAR/RAP version is coming soon. If they hadn't added the freebies I think a lot of people would have just waited. Once LiDAR is here, I'd bet LE is going away.
