Was Rivian insurance an option in the flow?
Yes. Not competitive for me. $305/month for three cars (including the R1T, a 205 Sienna, and a 2004 Civic). I only pay ~$98/month for the R1T with my current State Farm agent.

Edit: Number were a guess from memory. Updated to more accurate numbers

Wow that's a huge difference. I know others had brought up some specifics to consider with your existing coverage, like checking to see if they would do roadside assistance if you are off-road. Because IIRC Rivian's insurance does provide things like that, mobile charging etc.

Edit: no rush though, enjoy your Rivian first and figure out those deets later :)

It was an option in the flow, but I didn't even bother quoting it. It probably would be cheaper for the R1T itself, but we have too many other lines (and I'm way too fussy about what my umbrella policy covers).

I got the trade-in offer from Rivian. It is about 10% less than Carvana and 12% less than CarMax. I've seen at least one other post that said Rivian was higher than either of those. Perhaps they have cut their trade in pricing slightly to help make up for loss of revenue from the markup disaster?

It's probably just difference in how they value each car. Carvana quotes me a lot less for my ID.4 than Vroom, but that's switched for our xc60.

aren't those reliant on having a mesh grill?
there usually is a place they can be attached. I also have seen one bracket that uses the tow hook location on cars.
the Rivian should be able to handle it in the lower portion of horizontal and vertical grill.

I think off-road recovery comes with the subscription plan, not the insurance, I believe.

I have a bracket for my focus RS thst uses VHB adhesive, a pad with a threaded boss sticks to that, and the bracket is attached with a thumbscrew. Works great.

You might want to get online quote from VROOM. They beat all the others with two recent vehicles sales from my family. They are a bit more "clunky" when it comes to navigating their process online and the vehicle transport is 3rd party service. But in both cases they paid out what was offered and the money hit the bank within 24 hrs of pickup. Don't have the exact figures at finger-tip but for a roughly $40k value VROOM beat Carvana/CarMax by around 10% more!

Let us know if they say anything about the Rivian membership! I also have a ton of questions, but don’t want to overwhelm you, just enjoy your time with the car! So exciting to see real deliveries happening!

If enough of us ask these guys to make a version of the Snapplate for the R1T/S, I bet they’d figure it out.

I have one on my Model Y and it doesn’t require drilling or any difficult installation - it can be installed and removed in seconds.

I have to agree. I wouldn't want them publicly thinking about "What if we fail" this early. I would think that would make any employees nervous also. They just went public. They have 70k preorders (that may be built at a loss), that they will be working on for a couple years. They are making plans for a second factory. I want them looking forward, not sideways. I would be extremely nervous if they published a "How your R1T survives if we don't". To me, it would seem like a desperate, last chance move.

But I do admit I'd like to know. Probably too tough to tell realistically. They could go straight out and close, or someone could buy them or parts of them.
Hey!

Stop talking about the bad stuff that could happen! You're killing the 'good juju' I've been seeing here since RJ's "I'm sorry" email. ;-)

Vroom's price came in between Rivian and Carvana.

There was nothing I saw that even mentioned it.
