They had several years of data on what some people liked more, based on the pre-order configurations. Many people are willing to pay more for an exterior color (me included), why not charge more for an interior color.Just guessing, but it could be that they are just trying to price items more based on customers perceived value, and Rivian got some updated info that makes rivian think customers value OC enough to pay more.
As for getting people to switch from OC to BM, maybe OC does cost more. Or maybe Rivian has more BM right now so they are just trying to get trucks to customers who have been waiting years. A lot of people would complain that if the color was holding them back they would change it. It's also possible Rivian has "X" amount of people that ordered OC, but "Y" amount they can make, limited by one or more items (like the wood). So some may get OC and others switch to BM when the guides call, and some of them that switched will complain in 3 months that they switched for nothing.
