I thought I had seen something to this effect someplace else (but can't find it now) about the vehicle not completely going to sleep at night because of something sitting on the seat. If that is the case that is bad news. When we travel our rear seats are almost always full of stuff, not passengers. Many times we have a cooler sitting in the back that may weigh 40-50 pounds alone.
The rear seat doesn't have the same 'weight' sensor as the front seats do, which are there to support the SRS. Also, this issue affects some MUCH more than others. I set smallish (5-10 lbs.) loads on my front passenger seat every day with no issues. You should be able to set a load of any weight in the back and have no issues with occupancy detect.

So who has the new update?? I'm curious about the following:

  1. Improvements to vampire drain (obviously)
  2. The improved self leveling feature - does this make the RTT level for sleeping when parked on uneven terrain?
  3. Any improvements to phone as a key sensitivity?
  4. Any automatic GPS based functions for garage/gate control?
Also, not a recent update question, but does navigation/route planning have the ability to add waypoints or just a single destination?

I have imminent LG/FE delivery (PBA, vehicleID in account).

Can an owner please let us know if this can be turned off?
Temporary fix is to put it in tire change mode.

1. Don't know yet.
2. Works the same as before for the most part. Just levels the vehicle out but not in an extreme manner. A few degrees of incline would likely be covered, but anything more would still affect your sleeping position.
3. Mine worked great before.
4. No.

And no, only single waypoint right now.

Welp, Vehicle Shipping (on 2022.11.02) doesn't help in the least. 72 hour test, lost 11% battery, 13kWh, 33 Conserve miles.

Oh, and the update is ready. It reminds me of Dumb and Dumber's "Hey, you wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" I couldn't get that pop up to go away without accepting.

I'll try a 2022.15 over 72 hours starting Sunday evening.

I wonder how much energy goes to talking to the mothership. Can you turn off WiFI easily through the settings or you have to delete your network completely?
I've been assuming the R1 will communicate with the mothership (Rivian) via LTE. Is this an incorrect assumption?

I think that is the correct assumption when it cannot find a WiFi connection. If WiFi is availanle it will use that to minimize phantom drain just as the other brands (Tesla) and your smart phone do.

Interesting thing ih this post is that it reveals that there are two Trip Odometers which are very valuable for a variety of reasons. Pity they express consumption in terms of its reciprocal so a calculation has to be done. Especially a pity as there is room on the display to give the consumption and its reciprocal for those who don't understand consumption.

Unfortunate to see. But I'd expected with several update notes continuing to mention addressing vehicle sleep I was unsure as to whether any mode which attempts to shut down systems, like vehicle shipping mode, would make a difference.

I know others have disagreed with me but in a post Tesla world I struggle to understand how Rivian would've left the drawing board with the expectation that 13kWH over 3 days is a reasonable amount of drain. It's one thing if they were first and had no benchmark but that's not the case. Charged to 70% a vehicle could legitimately die within a week if not hooked up to an EVSE and even so you're wasting electricity for no user benefit. Is it a bit strange this isn't a bigger issue? As in, isthis only impacting certain vehicles? I've been following this thread but I really haven't noticed many rumblings anywhere else.

In the opinion of the designers and many here there is a user benefit else they wouldn't "waste" the electricity.

I think things like routing and navigation uses LTE and things like software update is WiFI. I can’t verify but my point is how much of a difference turning both off makes (if we can),
