Can we take whatever money / time that is spent on marketing videos and put it into paying one good software engineer to fix the just horrible customer queue system? I'm not a software engineer, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be that difficult to get daily delivery window updates based on config changes?

I think most people would rather get ANY truck than the EXACT configuration they made 6-42 months ago!

Ps- I know this is the general idea of the Shop, but I am fairly certain the execution will be idiotic.

Great video.

Hear Rivian is gonna make a large 4-6hr factory tour for customers in the future.

Would love to have a Rivian event out that way and get the grand tour of the factory and then mingle with other Rivian owners in Bloomington/Normal.

Can we take whatever money / time that is spent on marketing videos and put it into paying one good software engineer to fix the just horrible customer queue system? I'm not a software engineer, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be that difficult to get daily delivery window updates based on config changes?

It will take more than a software “engineer” to make salesforce, SAP, and whatever nightmare spreadsheet is meting out deliveries all make sense ?

Some of that footage looked oddly familiar, and apparently parts of the video leaked a little early:


I thought this was just some generic YouTube clipshow stitching together old videos in the past, but there are some clips are from the recent video (such as the wheel alignment).

Back to the actual content. That was some exceptional flying with the drone. I definitely want to see those "dinosaur" scale robots in person! Finally, I also liked how RJ appreciates the team effort to make this all possible.

i find it ironic that the same day Tony C. releases the customer email that Rivian releases this. what it shows is they are great at marketing comms and terrible at customer comms.
That was released for today’s annual stockholder meeting. They showed it at the beginning.

I think the r1s’’s in the video were the ones that were spied shooting a video of some kind. Same number and colors. Hopefully they are cranking out more. Tony’s email today did not inspire confidence in the timelines for r1s deliveries. Eagerly awaiting the update email on timing there.

I don't think we need this to be yet another "Rivian can't communicate" thread, there are a thousand of those and not a single one has ever changed anyone's mind.

I thought the behind the scenes view was super cool, very impressed by the progress on the EDV line and the scale of some of the machines.
Agreed. I was delightfully surprised to see it come up when I got home and fired up the old TV. They did a great job with the video, and it was nice to finally get a bit more of a seemingly all access fly through of the plant. RJ also did a good job narrating.

Yeah I want a red one.
Saw it this weekend in overcast conditions and it looked more orange in colour. Looked great, but I really wanted to glimpse Old Yellow.

In theory it's doable (not on one additional salary!), but the complexities of integrating data from disparate systems, daily customer configuration changes, supply chain delivery glitches, production forecasting and unexpected production throughput variations make it a 7 headed monster. I think it wouldn't be very accurate until Rivian gets a year or two under their belt and the supply chain starts to become more predictable - and therefore in the short term it might irritate customers even more?

I think that's why we see what is happening today - "Which materials do we have on hand this week so we can build trucks next week? Let's build 250 of that combination and see who will take them."
