I had my EzPass transponder on the left side of the camera/rear view and it was nothing but trouble reading. I placed it beneath the camera/mirror pod and its better at a maybe 70% reading. Maybe I will give the right side a try...

My EzPass is on the Right side is hit or miss for me. It seems below camera is working.

My FasTrak is in the center console. Beeps and registers tolls on the Bay Area bridges and toll lanes I've been on. No plans to move it to the windshield since it's working.

I gotta say that the last two Fastraks I’ve owned beeped for some time then eventually stopped beeping and who knows if they continued to work. I wonder if they use the tag and your license plate as belt and suspenders. Should just wrap it up in aluminum foil and see if I keep getting billed.

My tags are many many years old and I have noticed they beep on some toll lanes in the East Bay, but not in the South Bay. Tolls register fine, just no beeps in certain places. My wife kept the foil bag the tags came in and she stores it in the bag to keep it from registering.

Mine is to the right and has not had any issues.

Ah, model S/X used to come standard with heated windshield. Now they just have a defrosting element where the wipers park
I've never heard of a full heated windshield being offered from Tesla. The heated wiper parking area is all my early Model X has.

So it would seem, I mistakenly thought the “subzero” package we got here in canada included a fully heated windshield.

what mixed me up was that Tesla had heared wiper parking on newer models but didn’t turn it on in software until recently. So I thought they changed from a heated screen to heated wiper parking.

I've had a less than 50% success rate with my transponder mounted up high on both sides of the rear view, including the bottom of that housing. I started testing the lower portion of the glass against the back edge of the dashboard. Not a fan of this spot but it seems to be working better...

Stuck my EZ Pass to roof glass above passenger's head area and no problems.

EZ Pass needs to add Rivian as a make...sidenote.

Back in the day (I mean like 1998), our area of the country had one of the first transponder systems for toll lanes and my parent's had a Pontiac Transport minivan with a HUGE windshield with the problem of blocking the transponder. The work around at the time was to mount it on the moonroof with the understanding that the gates would open later because of the angle. I don't this is an ideal solution here because

  1. It's ugly
  2. You would think the roof would have the same coating
  3. The angle reduces the range
... but just another datapoint

9 months later, I'm trying to figure this out. I'd like to put it on the passenger side of the rear-view mirror. Some people here seem to think it works, and some don't.

What have people concluded? Thanks!

I hate sticking transponders on my windshield. Looks bad and hard to remove. I just hold it up when passing. I get that it’s less convenient.

Not attaching it or peeling it off and putting it on a different car "ist verboten" in Texas. I have my TXTag mounted beside the windshield camera. Out of view of the driver (the mirror blocks it) and low enough to be out of the "shading" on the top of the windshield. Works fine there for me.

SoCal here. My Fastrak is more of a sticker than the old school boxy transponder that beeps. Have it on the lower left driver side of the windshield. Has worked every time I get on the toll roads.
