A Tx of cell modem alone every couple hours isn't that bad if it has to wake up to perform other work. GPS trackers run on tiny smaller than cell phone batteries with hourly reports for many days.

I suspect the wakeup occurs for "turn on the AC". I'm just not sure on battery status. On my leaf it pulls from the cloud, but will ask the car if the cloud data is over x minutes old (unless you manually hit the refresh button).

I guess you'd have to try with the truck out of cell phone range in a parking garage or something :)
Theoretically, yes. You could consume less than a watt, easily. But if they're keeping the entire car computer on, and the HV fuse connected, and the car computer then keeps other gadgets on - like powering the cameras, tensor/GPU units, 12v, misc accessories, etc., etc., then you're going to have a problem. The fact that GG on/off has very little effect on drain suggests to me that they're not powering off most of the truck when they should.

Small test here.

Left truck at airport parking garage during a trip.

Temperatures: mild
Gear Guard: on (lots of videos were recorded)
Time elapsed: 67 hours
Starting state of charge: 74%
Ending state of charge: 69%

This works out to an average power draw of just over 100 watts. This seems reasonable given that Gear Guard was on.

Latest test:

Gear Guard: Off
Bluetooth: Off
Wifi: Off
Camp Mode Energy Use: Stay Off
14 hours later: 0% loss

I'll give it 24 hrs before I get too excited.

^ with BT and WiFi off, can you still open the vehicle using the FOB?

That's a good question. I'll find out this evening.

Minor data point here. R1T sitting in driveway at home with mild temps….low 80’s yesterday afternoon down to mid 50’s last night. GG off (at home), PAAK on, SW version 2022.31.5. Lost 1% in the last 24 hours.

Looks like it still wakes up when the fob is near and BT and WiFi are off in Camp mode. Pulled Fob out of faraday bag and rears light blinked and things started whirring etc.

^ interesting....

So I guess you can turn off BT and WiFi to external non-system devices only. Makes sense because it you were actually able to kill all wireless comms with the truck you'd have no way to get in the vehicle.

PAK doesn't work with vehicle BT and WiFi off right?

I think the BT for fob and PAAK is different than BT for infotainment. Looking in my phone connections, there are more than one for my truck. So turning off Bluetooth for audio/calling probably doesn’t turn off key functions, which may be handled by different Bluetooth chipsets.

There is a big range of vampire drain reported here. Even with GG off and PAAK off at home, some people lose nearly 0 miles overnight and others lose several.
I doubt it's vehicle specific. I'm on a two week camping trip, and have only been opening the frunk twice a day. 45F overnight, 75F days. I turn my phone Bluetooth off when not actively getting into the frunk.

Some days I lose 2 miles, other days 12. Average over the last 11 days is 7 miles per day.

At home, in the garage it's often 0 miles overnight, but some nights it's 9.

It's just inconsistent for whatever reason. They'll dial it in more I imagine.

We now have two airport measurements on our R1T
-2.2%/day @70s-90s F, GG on, v2022.27.02
-2.1%/day @40s-70s F, GG off, v2022.31.5

these two estimates are within their margins of error. Next opportunity I have I may try putting it in shipping mode.

Was out of town from Friday morning to Tuesday afternoon. Before leaving I put the truck into camp mode "stay off" and locked it. Went from 84% 244 miles of range to 79% 229 miles of range after 105 hours. Significantly better in 2022.31.5 than previous softwares and just leaving the truck. But Rivian has a long way to go. Our polestar 2 parked at the airport was at 60% when we parked it and 60% when we got back in it after 4 days.

Interesting thing is the air bags dumped out completely in the front after that period of time. When I unlocked the R1T, it immediately put the truck back up several inches to "lowest". It's keeping air in the compressor tank, but the actual suspension system must leak out over time. I didn't think to take photos or anything when it was all the way laid out though.

If you watch the driver screen it also displays a warning to not drive the truck until it has leveled.

I encountered this after a few days of charging on 120v at my place in northern wi.

I unlocked to get something out of the cabin, I didn't turn the screens back on by hitting the brake pedal until the next morning. It seemed to hit the desired level very quickly and didn't turn the compressor on at all to do so.
