The mobile tech might not know either & just set the wrench to TAF.

They send it on a Friday evening before a long weekend because that's what the PR team tells them to do, bury the news!

I aim to self inspect too.

Too bad they didn't tell us what the proper torque is. Some of could have at least checked on them ourselves till they come and officially check it.

It will be nice when this data becomes available for all major fasteners.
There should be paint marks on the fastener, should be easy to determine if it has spun at all. If it hasn't, I wouldn't worry.

These are difficult to actually tighten because you need two wrenches, since just turning the nut can lead to the ball joint rotating.

I would not advise tightening it yourself without knowing what the spec is. It might be easy to overtighten and could cause failure of either the bolt or the steering knuckle.

No paint marks. Rivian hasn't been super consistent on using paint marks on fasteners. Some have them....some dont...

It's a tapered fit. TAF might split the aluminimun arm. Use some caution here....

Anyone actually talk to service and figure out the plan? The emails don’t clearly identify what if anything we are supposed to do.
I did chat with someone. They were super helpful. I’m going to try to get to the service center this weekend and save the mobile appointments for those that are even further away.

starting tomorrow, sounds like the service centers will be prepped to host one person after another to check on this issue. Mentioned they would be about 10 mins.

Thanks for this. >>> Immediately goes to put R1T in highest suspension for home inspection!

Will try that.. tried to see at current at AP height and couldn't see anything

Have a service appointment in 2 weeks (7600 vin). Wonder if wait till then or try and get mobile? I'm like 90 miles or so from the closest SC.

Should be easy to see if you steer out. It's on the steering knuckle so you don't gain visibility of it by raising the truck up.

While this is mostly a small deal with only .05% I do think they should release torque specs so this and off road repairs are more accessible.

Love getting this as I'm on my first road trip with my family  Only real option is to continue on and watch for catastrophic failure on the highway with my wife and three children in the car. No WAY I'm telling my wife about this. She would never ride in it again.
I would quietly go check that upper bolt without her knowing ?

Same here. I’m not that vehicle savvy. I’m assuming this issue could explain why the vehicle drifts to the right? Am I wrong to think that?

Inspected the fasteners and they seem ok. Bolt is tight and the front end feels nice and solid. I put a magic marker mark on the bolt and the arm for reference. I will check frequently until I can have Rivian complete their inspection.

It's easily visible even without steering out. Just slide in from the front of the truck not the side. It's super easy to reach as well. I'll get a torque wrench out in the morning once it's light out. I can see the red marks and they don't appear to have slipped at all. I'm about 150mi from SC so will see when mobile service can get here.
