You’re telling me there’s only bluetooth audio or using the streaming via Spotify & no actual hardwire for you phone audio? Who made that design decision.
Affirmative...and really dumb considering how bad Bluetooth audio quality is vs a wired connection. At least with wireless CarPlay we'd get a high quality WiFi connection. I have it in my MINI and it's great.

With demand based pricing. Heated seats start as low as $0.99/mo (in July)

Soon to come, Gear Guard powered by Ring. Requires purchase of a Ring bundle with Professional monitoring, plus a $10/mo integration fee with the Rivian.
Don't forget, if you have Prime and get Amazon deliveries, they can deliver right into your truck.

Yes, and ID4 clog all the EA stations. It rewards bad behavior. I would rather we all pay for fast charging and have chargers available when I need them.
Yes on this! This is the exact problem with today's airport lounges - they've become a free entitlement to credit card holders and you can no longer get access due to them being full all the time.

Is that really bad behavior though? If they're doing it, that is because they're actively charging. They are simply unplugging briefly to avoid getting charged. But if it wasn't free at all, they would just let it sit and charge up to the desired level anyway, no?

What I hate is completely free chargers. We have a few around our house and there are people who work near those locations and just leave the car plugged in and sitting all day.
Half the time the chargers are broken (ie cable cooling) and the output is limited to 37kW and if all other chargers are busy, you are going to be there a lot longer than 30 mins. So at the 29 min mark, unplug and plug back in or move it to another charger that might have freed up. If the chargers were working as designed, people would be pretty much done in 30 mins.

Only if you utilize Amazon Key in partnership with MyQ for another $10/mo.

I’m just waiting for Alexa to prompt me one day. “You seem to be in a crash, would you like me to deploy airbags for $5?

….

“I’m sorry, I didnt get that”

I think the 2 usb ports in the console are data, so you can at least get better quality than BT or plug in a thumbdrive with your media on it.

I hope they don't charge for Driver+. My kids 2016 Acura performs better than Rivian Driver+. And it is free.

Can you get all the features provided via LTE over wifi? If so, would just using a wifi hotspot on your phone work instead of paying for LTE?
Depends on how the WiFi is implemented. Until recently you could only connect a Tesla to WiFi if it was in park, as soon as shifting to drive it was disabled.

Not sure if Rivian allows you to connect to a hotspot while driving.

Can someone confirm this?

3. Carplay/Android Auto - Before you bring out the torches and pitchforks, let me explain. Apple does not give out even the rotten core for nothing, so there is a license fee ......
Source? FWIW, many sources' report Apple charges no fee. Apple gains user info that car mfr's would prefer to have. I'm sure it drives interest in Apple music. Apple's getting something.

https://www.macworld.com/article/233855/carplay-faq.html

While Apple doesn’t charge automakers a fee for the necessary software to integrate CarPlay, there are some costs associated with meeting the necessary hardware requirements.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/29/apple-carplay-massive-success-paves-way-for-automotive-entry.html

In the United States, over 80% of new cars sold support it, Apple said last year..................

Apple says doesn’t charge automakers to use the software. It’s not a licensing business. (If it were, Apple could bundle it at $750 per unit and sell 9 million units by 2025, generating $6.5 billion in sales, Suva estimates.) .........................

When users have both CarPlay and a built-in system, they tend to use CarPlay. 34% of CarPlay users surveyed in 2018 by Strategy Analytics said they only use CarPlay when in their car, and 33% said they mostly use CarPlay. Only 4% of surveyed users say they use the embedded system in favor of CarPlay.

Frer charging incentivizes folks to charge at fast chargers rather than at home. Make it more expensive than home charging is the way to keep the fast charger available

Nope...this is exactly why these ID.4 people keep clogging chargers by going to 100%. There's just no need for the vast majority of users and it takes forever. When it's a limited resource, don't hog the damn thing when you don't need it. It's not like there's another station around the block in most cases. Unplug at 80% unless you really need more to get to the next station. These days it's called common courtesy. And when charging is free, people don't give AF and just hang out longer than necessary.
Last week I pulled up to an EA station, 4 chargers, all 150kw I think. 2 were in use, 1 Kia EV6 and 1 Hyundai Ioniq 5. I pulled into a third and charged my R1T from around 30% to 75%, for about 45 minutes, my drive was around 130 miles (temps in the 30-40s) and I didn't want to stop again. I left before the Ioniq 5 which was there before me. Now, there wasn't a line to use the chargers, I don't know if his was slow, or where he started from, but when I left I was wondering why he was charging so long. I would guess he was getting some free EA charging. Or he was also visiting family around Christmas and was looking for an excuse to take a break and get away from everyone.

That's not how it currently works. Not to say they can't add it later in an update, but when folks have asked I think in one of the Reddit AMAs they said it wasn't a priority.

I see this routinely. It is a bit off topic but yes, every time I charge, I go from 15-20% to 85% (i need the charge) and there are always small cars still there when I'm done that were there when I pulled in.

Uneducated people treat it like a gas station and charge to 100%.
