Roof cargo box recommendations

I have the Rivian cross bars but my Yakima carbonate skybox clamps are not compatible with the crossbars. Do we have any confirmation of which cargo boxes are compatible with the R1S?

Do you know if the Yakima CBX or GrandTour boxes have the same clamps?

Looks like they all use the same clamps. I’m going to call rack attack tomorrow and see what they recommend, I’ll report back .

So after doing some research and speaking with Rack Attack, the recommendation is to go with Thule cargo boxes rather than Yakima (which is weird because Rivian has a partnership with Yakima), the Thule boxes uses a mounting system where it clamps from both sides rather than a single clamp. I have the Yakima large Carbonite box and I just cannot get the clamp to go around the bar all the way.

I have an old Thule cargo box model (Motion 900), and the manual specifies a maximum crossbar width of 80 mm (3.15 in).

Now, according to the Rivian Gear Shop, the crossbars have a width of 3.625 in.

Finally, the manual for the Thule Vector cargo box that is referenced by @OrthoBlock states a maximum crossbar width of 90 mm (3.5 in), which is still slightly less than the width of the Rivian crossbars, but it would seem that it is close enough to work well (at least as far as the picture above shows).

I'm guessing I might be out of luck with my older model, but I will still give it a shot once I get delivery of the crossbars (in a week or so).

I have Thule and it’s much easier to install. Best way to describe the attachment is it’s like a crab claw.

No. I wish I did.

I bought a Thule Motion XT XXL and it fits well with the racks, and just works in the middle and back anchor points (better for aero).
