12 volt frunk power outlet is back! > in my just-delivered 2023 R1T (mid 18000 VIN)

I just picked up my 2023 mid 18000 vin R1T and to my surprise it has a 12 volt DC outlet in the frunk! I said to the service guy "I thought they removed these months ago?" and he replied "yep, they did. you must have an older build." I pointed out the 2023 on the sticker and the Vin and he repsonded with "oh wow, looks like it's back." While I don't know if mine was a fluke or not, I certainly have it on a 2023 and I'm very happy about it.

I have confirmed the outlet works. And here is a picture for those with trust issues.

I thought they reset the VIN counter when the started billing them as 2023. Note the 10th position should be the model year.

I knew someone was going to say that! haha. Figured it was pointless as if I had so much free time to lie about a 12 volt outlet it wouldn't be too hard to just post a picture of one from another truck

Love my 12V frunk outlet, use it all the time. Strange move for them to bring it back so soon but I personally think the marginal cost benefit of removing it wasn't worth it to make the vehicle less versatile.

My vin ends in PN018xxx

The P (before the N) = 2023
A N (before the N) = 2022

So it's a 2023. I dont think the reset they vin for R1T, but could be wrong.

The only logical explanation (if it's really back and not just a few) has to be there was a supply chain issue last year that has been resolved. It's such a cheap part that I cant imagine them cutting it for cost. And if there was some issue with having it, why bring it back.

I think they did at first but realized their internal servicing system wasn't set up appropriately to track full VINs. Doh.
