It's Friday and that's a day that's just perfect for good news. Our friends at Rivian have informed us of some great news and I'm happy to share it with you directly.​
What's Happening?
As I type this, Rivian's begun inviting a new, large group of R1T reservation holders to configure their vehicles. Thousands of R1T reservation holders can expect an invitation from us in the coming days. Once their order is confirmed, they can expect to take delivery in the next 1-4 months.​
The Details
  • Invitations are sent to reservation holders based on order date, delivery address, model selection and other factors. Invitations to configure cannot be requested.
    • Once invited, reservation holders will notice that their configurator only allows them to select options expected to deliver in the next 1-4 months. This helps our customers better plan for their purchase by configuring vehicles being built in the near term. It also allows us to offer more accurate delivery window estimates in customer Account Pages.
  • You may notice that certain options are not selectable (because they won’t be delivering to reservation holders in the next 1-4 months). If you’d prefer to wait until an option becomes available, please note that pricing and option availability remain subject to change until you both save your configuration and subsequently confirm your order.
    • You are not price-protected until both these conditions are met.
The Process
Broadly speaking, you can expect the following sequence of events:​
  1. Rivian will email you an invitation to configure your R1T.
    1. You’ll then access configurator, browse available options, and then save your preferred configuration.
    2. Rivian will send you a follow up email asking you to “confirm your order”. Confirming your order means you don’t intend to make any more updates to your configuration, have confirmed the correct delivery address and would like Rivian to schedule the build of your vehicle.
    3. You’ll confirm your order by following the link in that email to your order confirmation page. From there, you’ll review and then agree to confirm your order and its terms and conditions.
    4. Once your order is confirmed, your Account Page will be updated to reflect your specific configuration. Your delivery window estimate will be set to “Processing estimate” until our next scheduled refresh and the factory options for your order will be price-protected so long as you make no further changes to your order.
Is the Dual Motor one of the choices? Having to choose the quad may make it too expensive .

Wow--we have a July 2022 reservation. Did they have the dual as a choice--or only the quad?

Only the Quad. Dual is targeted for mid-2023, so expect that to pop up soon I guess.

Thanks--the dual would actually make it affordable for old folk like us. I don't think we could afford the quad.

We are considering our delivery address to our son's house in Jacksonville, where a new Rivian Service Center is opening soon. Regardless of our delivery address, we want to take factory delivery of our R1T.

I can't believe there isn't a service center in NOLA. Do they even plan to have one there?

I haven't received an email yet, but I do have the ability to configure now!

I logged onto the portal and there was a green bar at the top of the page that said "Configure R1T"

Couple things:

1. No dual motor (mid 2023)
2. No standard pack (2024)
3. Several wheel selections greyed out

After I configured, my portal just reads "processing estimate"

7/30/22 Reservation date

Edit: email received this morning.

I'm also about 20 miles from a RSC

Hey @Foobar -when in june did you order (early, mid, late) and how close to a service center do you live?

We ordered in early July and live around 40 miles from the Brooklyn service center in NJ. We haven't received an invite yet, so trying to better understand if Rivian is prioritizing a certain radius around the service center.

Trying to manage my own expectations. (which, I guess I am foolhardy enough to have any)

Any July reservation holders get an invite? I'm a 7/30/22 Res.
I am July 8th 2022 deposit and just received my email to configure. Went ahead and did it. Still going back and forth now on the manual tonneau cover. I know I need/want something, just not sure if I trust Rivian to ever make one.....

I am 242miles from ATL Service Center, but in NC which from what I have read is a hard state to get a Rivian in. Might change my address to MI where my parents live, but they are technically farther from a SC than I am.

June 6, 2022 reservation - I'm also located about 40 miles / an hour away from the Brooklyn Service Center.

Also as an update, just got the email from Rivian this afternoon asking me to confirm my configuration.

I was thinking of ordering again the same R1T I already have ordered to see if I would get it more quickly with the higher pricing and confirm that the SC location excuse is BS... you answered that question. Thanks.

Very interesting! Early June 2022 NJ reservation here too. I also switched from the S to the T. This would be sweet! Glad I didn't buy the used T 2 weeks ago!

Pretty torn at this point....Only option box I ticked was Forest Green, and it's $90,000.

May have to hold off until the dual comes out.
