Anyone know where I can get a compact spare for my recently delivered R1S? Do some offroading and feel safer with a spare. Have tire plugs and tireject in my kit. Not quite ready for a swing out fullsize carrier (dirtcom etc). Called the SC and guide and no luck.
Any sponsors/vendors making one?

No compact spares are available from third party or Rivian. I’ve been told many times by Rivian for many months, it’s coming soon. Reasons I’ve been told it’s not available:

* tool kit is supply chain constrained
* can’t provide the spare without the whole kit.
* we don’t know how to add the bracket if it wasn’t installed at the factory
* the supplier went out of business
* we don’t have to ever provide one since we meet state laws by providing a fix-a-flat kit

I’d really love to have one before we embark on our road trip in April.

My delivery guide told me that it was coming soon, but who knows what soon means.
Mine today said: We took all the spares off the orders b/c we do not have the kits available due to supply chain issues, once they are back in stock - they will be available on the Gear Shop.

There are two reasons we want the compact spare tire for our R1S that is on order. 1) Reports of A/T tires failing or going flat. 2) Limited cell service in our area (in the mountains), where it could be difficult to call for a service or tow. We'd actually prefer a full-size spare, but Rivian does not appear to have made provisions.

Not sure if you saw my video on the full size AT spare in my S from the blow-up sex doll thread, but you should try to go in on a group buy from your SC for four of them. I’ve seen threads and posts for those interested on here or start your own.

I’ve heard various dates and they’ve come and gone. I’ll believe it when I see it. At this point I’m looking into purchasing a full spare. I’ve already built my own tool kit otherwise.

Was able to call our local service and add on a spare without lug wrench, pucks, and jack.

Here's the break-down on cost:

Concern:
- Customer requests to purchase compact spare tire.
Cause:
- part needed to complete retrofit, need the rear cargo liner with the spare tire option, it has a cut
out for the spare tire stud to screw in and hold the spare tire properly.
Correction/Remedy:
- Label, Tire Information (Remove and Replace)
- Wheel and Tire Assembly, Spare (Retrofit)

I asked to install it myself and remove the $80 but I am wondering why I need to buy a $195 cargo liner when it should have been there to begin with?

I am thinking of holding off as this price is absolutely wild, I don't want to pay $775 and then in 6 months a kit will be available for $400 installed. No one is going to pay these astronomical prices.

I suspect that is Rivian's objective right now.

I would never go off road without a spare. I suspect in the future, those that actually like to off road will get a rear bumper swing out mounted full size spare carrier.

Also the Rivian winch mount seems to have fallen off the edge of the world. Not good for an adventure vehicle.
