Anyone with an R1S reservation get invited to configure or get access to the Shop? I ordered mine July 2022 and figured it'd be a while but just wanted to see if anyone with a slightly older reservation might have gotten lucky.
I got access to the shop on Friday. And ordered about 1 year before you. I think you will likely have to wait a bit longer.

My understanding is that there was a problem with the supplier and they have no parts for the one in the cabin. They should have still cut the hole and allowed it to be added back in later. As for how do we hook that up, that is the purpose of the 12V extension cable I mentioned.

Possibly harder to do in the R1S. Plus, we really need 2 as we also have a portable fridge/freezer we use too. It would have fit perfectly in the frunk, but now that one’s gone too. Are they still shipping R1s with the 120 plug under the second row climate control panel? Hopefully they haven’t gotten rid of that too.

I am from Illinois and since I put down my reservation in April '22 I had set my delivery address as the factory address. I also told my guide I wanted to pickup at factory. My main reasons for doing the factory pickup (1) faster pickup not having to wait for transport to Chicago and then re-checkout there, (2) not having to have it transported, (3) doing a 180 mile drive to shake things out and really experience the truck right off the bat, and (4) factory tour. I picked up on March 25th and there were a lot of vehicles staged for transport. Due to various dealer laws around the country the delivery charge is still applied if you pick up at the factory so that's a lot of money Rivian saves by doing factory pickups. They would add some tourism to the local area by having people fly in and pickup if out of state. They would free up a lot of transportation bottlenecks too. I really don't understand why they don't push for an increase in factory tours; even promote and encourage them. I mentioned this to the guy who did my delivery and he didn't understand either. He said they could process a lot more of them through the factory location.

I selected a truck out of the online store on a Monday. I had to transfer money from an oversea account for the down payment which took 3 days. If I had the money available, I could have picked up at factory on the Thursday instead I had to push off until Saturday. If I had chosen Chicago service center it would have been another week or more until pickup.
It was a cluster mess when I was at the plant. A CS got me set up for another demo drive after a lot of bad information previously provided. I showed up, the front desk person looked for the person that could possibly do the demo with me, another Rivian team member came back and corrected the front desk person and told her that it's him that is suppose to do demos and then said he was too busy with deliveries and couldn't do it.

It seemed to be a lot of moving pieces and it almost felt like they had signed up for more in-person deliveries then they were prepared for. The lobby was buzzing with activities and the guest lot was almost full.

Got sense that the company might like it, but the staff on the ground at the factory did not.

I got access to the shop on Friday. And ordered about 1 year before you. I think you will likely have to wait a bit longer.
I put deposit down in Feb. '21, no shop access or guide. I've shared several times with CS that I am not picky with configuration, no trade-in and cash sale and could show up within 1 hour to pick up (no factory tour needed).

All three times, I got advised I need to wait in line until my time came up and nothing they could do. Stupid on my part, but I've already purchased and have in hand Rivian cargo bars, floor mats, lift jacks, etc. so already have too much invested to back out at this point.

Congratulations. How did you arrange to pick it up in Normal? I would love to do that. Are they unable to deliver to your state? I understand a tour of the facility is worth it. Are you feeling good about getting a ‘22 even though it will take a depreciation hit since not an ‘23? Could have features that they’ve since deleted which may be a huge plus.
You can ask your guide to setup for pickup at the factory. I suggest you do it as soon as you confirm your config in the shop. It has nothing to do with what state you live in - I've read about others flying in from all parts of the country to pick up and then driving back. The factory tour was certainly a plus for us - I'm hoping my kids will enjoy it!

I'm feeling okay about the '22. No doubt there's some value hit relative to a '23, and it's odd to get a new '22 in almost mid-2023. But, my original reservation was for an adventure and I picked an LE from the shop so I'm getting a free wheel upgrade. The way I look at it, saving $1,800 now for the wheel upgrade is likely a wash with any value difference when I go to sell the vehicle in 5-10 years, which is typically how long we keep our vehicles. Our exterior color is LG whereas my preferred was red. Not ideal, but I'm willing to make that compromise to get the vehicle six months earlier and save $1,500 on paint cost. Finally, given our near 1600 VIN, I believe there's a good chance we've have the frunk and center console 12V outlets, possible wood trim on the back of front row seats, and definitely should have Meridian audio.

As long as the vehicle checks out okay cosmetically (panel gaps acceptable, no paint issues) when we go to pick up in just under two weeks, the '22 should be totally fine in our case.

Nothing new since Saturday? Bummer. Thanks for checking.
There is some turnover but it’s replaced by similar stuff it’s currently a fiesta of GW, MB and FG. There was RB that came and went. Couple LEs.

If anyone in SoCal is holding off on pulling the trigger because they’re waiting on 22 brights, I’d happily swap for ATs or AT darks. I have less than 1k miles on mine!
Great point. There should be some good swap o
Also got a Launch Edition R1S (in LG!) on my Adventure Edition preorder. Saved me on wheels and OC interior which was great and got the underbody shield I wanted with the spare. Good deal!

Perhaps more surprisingly, Rivian offered me $73,427 on my R1T trade-in that's a year-old and has 11K miles. More than I was expecting and with the in-and-out on sales tax makes me actually want to trade the vehicle in rather than (a) cancel R1S order, or, (b) sell R1T in private sale.

That's a pretty great trade in $$. I'm watchin

Some good news - after seeing my exact build, I had to wait a bit for Shop access. Mini panic thinking it'd be gone by the time I got access. Got it, then @tgo10000 posted screenshots after and my exact build was (and still is) up. Good chance they have more than one these days.

Don’t worry FG has been regular, you could tell your guide its there that’s worked before.
You the same mike813 on RS?

yes, that's me. Waiting on GW/OC/Underbody/20s. My guide is helping us with shop access for our second R1S order.

Don’t worry GW has easily been the most common in the shop recently, it is regularly added. BM is a little more common than OC.

Hi there Robert, thank you for chatting with Rivian! My name is Bryan, how can I help you today?
Customer Service Specialist

(me) Hi Bryan. I'm good, just curious how do I get access to R1 Shop. I'm flexible on my configuration & I've seen at 4 different R1S's in the R1Shop (posted by others in forums) I would have gladly jump on in the last 60 days. I even changed my configuration before the 04/14/23 cutoff to match one of them.

(me) PS, I still do not have a guide assigned to me. My pre-order is dated 04-30-2021.

Hey Robert! I understand you're excited to get behind the wheel. As we've mentioned before, R1 Shop invitations go out to some of our earliest preorder holders first. And at this time, that includes 2018-2020 preorder holders. Once there's an opportunity for you to be invited, we will be sure to do so. Otherwise, your window that'll be live in your account by the end of this month (just a few days) will be your source of truth for your current configuration.

(me) So why are so many folks with deposits/pre-orders dated after my 04/2021 pre-order, dated 2021, 2022 & even 4 I've seen in forums dated 02/2023 & 03/2023 getting their R1S ahead of the rest of us? They tell us to schedule a test drive, which I did on 01/03/2023 then tell the service manager we are flexible with our configuration & "request access to R1Shop, (I did not do this) to jump the line. Do you think this is fair to the rest of us waited have waited 2, 3 or 4 years?

(me) PS: I'm only 19 minutes from the Atlanta, Ga Service Center.

While I can't speak to other's preorders, I can say that we are providing you with the most accurate info for your specific order. There are some individuals who may have preordered after you who are on the friends and family list (friends and family of Rivian employees) who have the option to be invited to be flexible with their configuration, but this invitation is more restrictive than a regular R1 shop invite, and the opportunity to be flexible is limited.

(me) Okie Dokie... Thank you Byron. Can I at least get a Guide assigned to me. my last known Estimated Delivery Window opens in 60 days or so...

A guide is really only instrumental during the digital purchase process, and they're assigned closer to when you're expected to take delivery (so shortly before or during your estimated delivery window)
So If you're window is upcoming, and this update confirms that, a guide will be assigned to you soon

(me) Aye Capt. Thank you & have a Nice Day. bye for now.

I'm happy to help. I know the info we share and the info around can be a little conflicting sometimes, so I appreciate your understanding and patience. We really do look forward to getting you behind the wheel :)

Feel free to chat us with any further questions. Have a great rest of your day and Stay Adventurous!

end

PS, thank you all for posting, maybe I'll get R1Shop Access someday...

I'm in the same boat as you. Your chat is pretty much word for word the same one I've had a few times with customer service. They are consistent with their messaging, but not in their practice. My exact config was posted on here last week and there are others I would have happily taken in its place. Hopefully the delivery window update brings good news.
