When will Rivian admit that avoiding AA/Carplay is not about providing "better" UX?

It’s actually pretty easy to get suggestions to someone at Rivian if you can’t find it here you can hop over to Rivian stories and do some searches. Hint: guides can be incredibly useful.

yea they are working on the ones they feel are important, multiple updates have improved my user experience in the last 10 months, if your desires aren’t met I wouldn’t want you to feel “forced” into purchasing a Rivian. ?

Again, if it’s so critical to have, mount your phone on the dash and use it as CarPlay.

I had it on a Discovery and multiple rental cars.....and I just don't understand why people would want CarPlay. I actually have a Rivian unlike the OP and MUCH prefer it vs the CarPlay. Maybe I've got low expectations, but the CarPlay has made me want to punch the screen and I have never felt that way in the Rivian.

The only reason I find the Rivian infotainment even passable is because I've been paying for Spotify Premium for many years. If I used another service I'd be pretty pissed at how shitty it is. Likewise, there's no mechanism for doing voice to text message or to read text messages. It may be coming, but it's been absent for over a year since they started customer deliveries. Also, no support for Waze, which I currently run on my phone with a mount on the dash...which I shouldn't be forced to do. There aren't any 12v or USB ports on the dash, so that also means I'm forced to have a cord snaking its way back to the center console which is beyond dumb. Furthermore, I plan to use my Adventure Vehicle to go off-road and there's no support for any sort of off-road mapping tool like Gaia GPS (which I pay for) that has CarPlay support or even onX or a few others. It really smells of a minimum viable product and while what's there is decent, it leaves A LOT to be desired. I mean hell, they don't even support USB audio when they tout how good their audio system is. So if you don't use a built-in streaming service you're relegated to the shit quality of Bluetooth audio.

So, why not embrace that and say AA/CarPlay is $X/month or $Y one time purchase

Then once they actually have a better product on the market offer that option for 2-5X/month

Let us decide the value and our options.

That's not going to fly when every car manufacturer on the planet who offers carplay/aa has it for free. You don't want it to be the **** show.

To your other point, I don't believe OP even has their Rivian yet but they're already criticizing the UI Maybe they need to check their discontentment?

If carplay told you to drive off a bridge, would you? Airports have really good signage. All you have to do is get close to them and stop paying attention to the GPS.

You know what works even better, if you go to MapQuest.com you can actually look up instructions and print them out! I'm working on a dash mounted clipboard that I can 3d print to hold them over the nav screen. Man's a genius!

I can hardly tell what vehicle I'm driving anymore with all my paper maps. It's wonderful.

Another place my Rivian has been terrible about providing directions is parking garages. When are they going to fix those?
